I been having issues with my Surface 3 battery draining rapidly. I am currently using Windows 10 and I had no issues with Windows 8.1. I put it to sleep it wakes back up, or If I Shut it down it turns back on and just continues to drain the battery. I was at 100% off the charger. I went to use it after 7 or so hours off the charger and it is at 10%. Any help would be appreciated.

Go to power settings and check to see if you have your WiFi activated while your surface is sleeping. If so, turn that off. Should help a lot.

Also, do you have a Surface 3 or Surface Pro 3? I've seen those issues about waking up mentioned on the Pro 3.

Running surface 3, and I did turn off Wi-Fi while sleeping. I came across another topic, maybe I can try plane mode.

Make sure you don't have "Hey Cortana" turned on - that will prevent the system from sleeping properly.

Doesn't impact the phone to any appreciable degree so hopefully a Surface will be able handle this.

True - but for some reason the Surface sees it as an open audio stream. With Hey Cortana turned on, open an Admin Command Prompt and type: powercfg -requests

On my S3 and SP3, I get the Realtek audio stream open, which typically prevents the system from going into deep sleep.

My surface is running better after I remove the Skype desktop. Even the fan is slower
We missed the old metro Skype. Microsoft needs to fix this.
