Surface 3 WiFi speeds?

I'm not sure if this is another Win 10 issues or just the Surface 3 in general. But I have Comcast with 80/12 service and Comcast's AC WiFi router. The sync rate on my Surface was showing 700+ Mbps. Two speed tests gave me roughly 6-8/2 Mbps. Other systems in my house will pull 80/12.

The sync rate gets poor sometimes on the other end of my house too. It will report 6 Mbps but seems to speed test faster. Having the tablet horizontal instead of vertical seems to slow it down too.

Does your router do two different frequencies? 2.5 and 5ghz? I know my Surface had issues with 5ghz and would connect but the speed was slow.

I've had an issue with connecting to WIFI 5GHz since upgrading to Windows 10.

It's an AC router so it is dual band. The channels on the 2.4 GHz frequencies are terrible around here and my 2.4 devices suffer. I could try the 2.4 channel but I'm way clear of others on my 5 GHz channel.

But is the surface capable of pulling 80 Mbps or is it limited to around 20 Mbps?

I just tested mine and i was getting about 89 Mbps down and 12.5 Mbps up. I'm connected to a Netgear AC router on the 5ghz band.

Thanks, the Comcast modem is always solid with it's WiFi. I'll have to try it on some other routers and this one on 2.4.
