Surface 4 Glitches - Is it Insider builds?

I love the concept of the Surface and have used an SP3 at work for 12 months now never having any problems, apart from it being Windows 8.1

So I treated myself to an SP4 on Black Friday but have been disappointed with it – it seems to be so glitchy and plagued with bugs, mainly around sleeping, power and the connection/disconnection of the touch cover. Often it will sleep and cannot be woken again without long pressing. If I’ve been using it without the cover (or with it bent back) and then switch off, and reattach it the cover, I can't start it again without removing the cover to force it to tablet mode if when off. This happens the other way round too.
The autorotate seems to have a mind of its own, again I think related to tablet mode, sometimes freezing in one locked position – again reattaching the cover seems to clear it.

I know there were a ton of bugs in early models which have been fixed in subsequent firmware builds. I'm up to date with everything but amongst all this, I’m running Insider builds too so I’m wondering if my opinion of the 4 is being influenced by bugs in the O/S. Day 1 with the Pro 4, as soon as I connected up and logged in, I was back on the Fast Ring again and into the cycle of developer builds.

Can anyone else confirm they have such problems and also if you’re in the Insider program or on a different ring.

Could it be the O/S build that is giving me problems?

Cheers

Chris

I had way to much instability with the insider builds. I do understand they are beta so I was expecting a little bit of issues.

On your Surface you mean or in general? The Surface as a tablet has some unique requirements of the O/S which I swear aren't covered off properly in any build yet. The spacing of text in Explorer and in menu boxes for example is twice as large as it should be.
