surface book frustrations

I returned my SB and exchanged for a SP4. The SP4 has the same issues! Only screen freezing, random unresponsiveness, battery drainage while in sleep mode, seem to be worse! Ugh! I am within my return window and will take it back if things continue... Funny thing is, I know no device is perfect and software is going to have bugs BUT, my MacBook pro, albeit has had a handful of issues, nothing that even comes close to this! Not making this an Apple vs MS post, I just think if MS wants to be serious about putting out devices, quality control needs to be paramount before the product is available to sell. By the sounds of the issues being posted these are just a few bad apples these are wide spread problems affecting the Surface line, both SB and SP4 and one could argue both lines were still in beta when they started to ship in late October. Shame on you Microsoft.

I consider myself to be very lucky. So far I have not had any of the issues in regards to the SP4. Before doing a lot of research, I think I found myself over reacting to light bleed though I know bad instances of bad light bleed do exist. So at this point in time, and coming from a SP1 pro, I really do like my SP4

Being an early adopter sucks, but I wouldn't qualify myself as such as my wife just received her SB last week, and thankfully there were a few fixes out there for some of the more annoying problems that many of you have had to suffer through, and the one I did have a question about ended up being a software compatibility issue with Sketchbook Pro. I am however still wiating for a fix for touchpad quirkiness.

I'm glad I didn't get the dock, however.

If I'm understanding the issue correctly, it would appear that there's a limitation for anyone wishing to run more than one HD monitor.

Not exactly. The issue is with running 2 4K displays (not HD) -- the dock will only support 2 4K displays at 30 Hz, as opposed to 60.

Thank you, I stand corrected. I was informally and incorrectly lumping 4K, WQHD, WQXGA into a category and referring to them all as HD, mostly because I was too lazy at the time to look up all those obscure abbreviations :-).

Are there issues with the dock?

I am having issues with both my stereo and external hard drives randomly disconnecting. The folks at Microsoft tell me I have to check for updates regularly while connected to the dock so that Windows Update will recognize it's connected and download updates to fix these issues. Not sure how much stock I can put into that. I need a dock, so I am waiting to see if the rest of my SB issues are resolved before my return period ends. My reasoning is that it's hard to tell if the dock issues are really with the Book itself or if I got a bad dock. I don't want to keep unboxing all their new equipment if the problem lies with just one part.
