Surface Detach: Hardware Failure

Has anyone else seen this?
I started getting this today. The keyboard button still detaches the hardware just fine. The taskbar icon shows an error and is dead.

Edit: I just found out that screen rotation has also failed.

I just started getting the same problem. Notification of a hardware failure and screen rotation not occurring in tablet mode.

I did a full recovery on mine, setting it back to factory new. Still no luck. :eck:
Looks like I need to get it returned.

Just found the fix that worked for me. Hold down Power and Sound up keys at the same time. I held them for about 8 seconds just to be sure. The PC does a hard boot and resets. On power up it is back to normal.

I had that happen on the machine I just received back from MS and when I did the firmware upgrade it was fixed.

I had done a power button held for 30 seconds 4 or 5 times. No help. I just did a power button and volume up button for 30 seconds, and that looks like it fixed it.
