The original surface pro is still a powerful device. And even though I greatly value the tablet form function, I miss using a clam shell device. A thousand thanks to you Microsoft, Panos Panay, and the rest of the team for adding another surface to the family.

Already own a Surface pro 4. The only thing that I dislike about the device is battery life. Mostly used for office work. Cant wait to see the improved battery life in new Pro.

You both have strong points that deserve to be talked about. I think the Book is the device for those that (yes) do need all the features that can be offered in one product.

However, if one does not need all the (hardware) features, then they may not want to spend the extra money just to have the unique features that the Book offers.

I have grown up using Windows and instantly fell in love with the surface pro when it was introduced in 2012. It was the device I chose as my High School graduation gift and have loved it ever since!

I will be so proud to represent Microsoft with the surface laptop and look forward to using it every single day!

@raijovj..Awesome and thanks for giving an opportunity for windows enthusiasts like me to stand a chance to win.

"Love at first sight" is what I would use here. The moment I got a glimpse at this elegantly designed piece of innovation just got my mind running all over my bucket list and got this added as first one to fulfill. Will be waiting for the winner's announcement eagerly. Who knows! I could be the one. Over confidence

youre welcome. i see, so the devices you have are okay even for now but because they are okay its not necessary to get something new. im the same with you. my macbook pro is going on year 5 and its still sufficient to do my work and research on and even watching videos in 1080p arent a problem. i could definitely use an upgrade but its not at the point that i absolutely need a new computer. i guess its good that weve been holding back on buying new computers since the surface laptop was just announced. :p

But u need to grab newer developments:excited: to be equipped to face the newer challenges:shocked: and accomplish them with a blend of innovation:wink: and efficiency......

hey grizzlystrong, thanks for your reply. i see what youre saying. youd like something like the dell xps 13 2 in 1 or lenovo 720 13 inch that folds back completely flat? i agree with you thats a more pleasing look than the surface book hinge, and also maybe in the near future we will find out why microsoft chose not to design a 2 in 1 laptop.

as to microsoft leaving out functionalities to put in future models: i think companies intentionally leave out things to add to future models of products. look at apple with nfc. nfc was around for years and many phones started having the technology except apple and finally introduced it to the iphone 6, iphone 6 plus, and apple watch. even my lumia 920 had nfc and it came out 2 years prior.

I think the Book hinge looks stylish, even with that bump. Maybe for those users MS released the performance base.

As for leaving things out from the Surface laptop, it has quite a few things already and the RAM will not be lacking. As for the Type C, it still has to be the norm on smartphones and accessories before being a must have on laptops
