Surface is dead?!?

Even though the Pro 3 is probably the most awesome device I have ever seen, it, in very few ways, seems like an unfinished product that leads to the Pro 4. This is my reasoning behind saying that:

1. The pen doesn't stay attached to the Surface too good, and that is something so simple to notice that the Surface Team could've easily found that out and fixed it with some testing.

2. The prices are Apple-level high, which makes me think that this seems like funding for something even better to come.

3. The event was supposed to be for the Surface mini but was changed to be for the Pro 3 only a short time before the event happened. This could mean the Pro 3 might have been intended for the broadwell processors but a different version with haswell processor was presented and given to journalists during the event.
Those reasons (in addition to seeing how the Modern UI app situation improves) are why I'm seriously waiting for the Pro 4.

For me these arguements don't stack up.

1) for there to be a decent place to store the pen when not in use the tablet would need to have somewhere to insert it, which would make the tablet thicker. I'm not bothered about this issue. I'll either keep the pen in my bag or attach it to the cover.

2) The prices are high because of the development time, the components, and the bespoke layout of the internal boards etc. It's also a premium bit of kit, not some cheapo Dell tablet.

3) The Pro 3 must have been on the production line for a good month or so before it's announcement. Microsoft have lent out 100s to reviewers and now have many more on their way to store.

I doubt the Pro 3 was a last minute decision, it takes time to source components, and create production lines. These things wouldn't have been sitting around until the end of the year just to fit in a brand new processor. It may have been that MS were going to announce a mini, and scrapped it last minute, but I reckon they would have shown both.
