So I'm going to new work computer and I can't decide if the Pro 2 or Pro 3 would be Better. The only thing that draws me to the pro 3 is the 13 inch but I have found the used pro 2 for fairly good prices which a good draw

I was contemplating but then decided to buy the SPro 1, instead of waiting for v3. I only paid 600 for the 128Gb version and I am very happy with it. I tried the SPro 3 in the store and is a fantastic beauty. I love the thinness, the size and the pen accuracy. But I will wait some time until it gets a couple hundred down in price (maybe Spring '15). In terms of computing power the SPro 1 (and certainly the SPro 2) are similar and I can run everything I need for work and entertainment. $1000 and then a typecover on top are too expensive at the moment (if you are a student you can get it cheaper btw. ).
cheers

I love my SP2. If you're okay with the screen size and the thickness, I say go for it. Plus, it's got some performance benefits (GPU only has to drive a 1920x1080 display versus 2160x1440 display, better cooling system which allows for longer sustained performance, etc.). And it has Wacom versus N-Trig.

Found a spro 1 for 400 and one brand new unopened for 550 some more options to look in to

I really wouldn't recommend getting an SP1, especially if you want a machine for long term. However, if budget is a really strong factor (the deciding factor), the SP1 would do great. Not dismissing the SP1. But unless there's a drastic difference in price, it'd be a big step up to the SP2 and SP3. SP1 (Ivy Bridge) is a whole chip generation older than SP2/SP3 (Haswell).

The battery life is bad, it runs slower and has a limited kickstand. You can get away with the 1-position kickstand on the Surface RT because it's very light weight. But the SP1 is heavy and you will have to use the SP1 on a table. The SP2, because of its 2-position kickstand, can be used on the lap. In fact, I use mine on my lap all the time. And not just in the lap but a wide variety of other positions that even a laptop can't do.

And if want to see performance differences, compare:
