Surface Pro 2 Sold Out

Actually it's quite heavy for a tablet. Relatively speaking. You wouldn't buy a pair of shoes that weighed 5lbs, because they would be considered heavy for shoes. So no, it's not that people are getting weak. While using my SP2 to read my kindle books, I have to take way more breaks just to rest my arms, and i'm in good physical condition.
I honestly don't get the complaints about the weight of surface pro 2. I went to staples this morning to try it out, and even with the type 2 cover, all their security devices and crap attached to it, it still felt pretty light holding it in my hands and playing around with it. *shrugs* maybe human beings are just getting too weak :/

Meh, while i agree its on the weighty side...the complaints can be interpreted as a bit of an exaggeration at times...since 99% of the people i see in public, work and even in my own household use their TABLET (iPad/Nexus) on a desk or on their lap for support. So ya, i could see having to take breaks from holding it...but i could see that with something like an iPad or Andoird tablet as well, although probably less frequent breaks.

cant believe all the weaklings here
some of you have to hit the gym ...2 pounds is nothing

and how often will you actually be holding it upright? its almost always going to be either on a desk or on your lap

Could you please post a picture of your great physical prowess. Didn't think so. I get it, you're internet strong. How often will you be holding it upright? Quite often since it's used with the kindle app.

So you saying it's not heavy because people are using it on their laps and desk. That doesn't mean it's not heavy. Have you used one?

Im saying people dont hold their tablets out with both arms walking around, its not conventional. If they are using it while standing up, away from a desk or not on their lap its sitting on their forearm resting while they use the device. People that complain about the weight say 'i get tired holding it up'...and im saying anyone would get tired holding up a device at 10" with Gorilla Glass...that it be an iPad or Android or Surface.

Yes its heavier than the standard tablet, im not saying it isn't. Is it grotesquely obese and impossible to hold? No, but i guess i can see a person getting slightly worn out and taking breaks.

Reality - Most people who use tablets are on their laps or desks...so the actual weight of the device is irrelevant if it will be spent most of the time on your lap or desk. If you need something extremely light weight dont count on a Pro/Pro 2.

"My arms are killing me, I've been using this for 2 minutes standing up and need to take a 15 minute break before using it again" is exaggerated.

As a law student I actually need the pro. I need to be able to run legacy apps for test taking. I pre-ordered mine since day one but haven't had time to pick it up at the store. Hopefully they still have it when I go tomorrow :-S

Be Careful, the fools at Examsoft do not allow you to run Exam4 on the surface pro

if you are buying a $1000+ device to read kindle books as opposed to buying a kindle for $100 then you have bigger problems than not being able to hold up a 2 pound tablet

Umm, don't be so obtuse. I have a kindle. I bought a SP2 which has a kindle app on it. No need to carry the kindle and a laptop anymore, the SP2 does both. So you're logic is flawed.

If you're saying that "Most people who use tablets are on their laps or desks...so the actual weight of the device is irrelevant" makes the weight issue irrelevant, well that's just your opinion. It's a heavy device. Does it weigh more than Thor's hammer, no. But look at any review, besides the one here on WPC, then you'll see that it's weight brings down it's score on almost every review.

I have a degenerative muscle disease which causes muscle pain, stiffness, and strain from most actions or holding/lifting heavy objects- but even with that I still found surface pro 2 to be pretty light. In fact I was almost surprised by how light it was, when my expectation was that it would feel like a brick, from hearing every reviewer whine and moan about its weight. I think part of it is due to the fact that it felt balanced and as if its weight was evenly distributed. I still have an old 32gb hp touchpad (weighs in at about 1.6lbs), and the pro 2 didn't feel too much heavier than that. The surface 2 was right next to the pro model, and picking up and holding both only gave the impression of the pro model having a little more heft and being more "solid".

The kindle weighs 7 ounces and most likely fits in the pouch of any case one might buy for their surface pro

using an i5 10 inch device to read books is indicative of your flawed logic ..saying its a hassle to carry around a 7 ounce device in addition to the SP2 seals your fate.

I never said it wasn't heavy (i used the term weighty)...i just said it wasnt the weight of thor's hammer ;)

I have the older kindle DX, no, it does NOT fit in a pouch. Invalid. Carrying around two devices when one would do is idiotic. I use my SP2 for work and play. So yeah, you have no clue, and probably have never held a SP2.

If they didn't want you to read on the device, seems like of silly that they released an app for it. But I guess you didn't know there was a kindle app for it, eh.

you fail in so many ways ..I've owned both the SP and the SP2
...you're too blind to realize that you are basing your entire opinion of the product as a whole on ONE SINGLE APP

If you don't like it then return it and enjoy the apple forums
with it being sold out, I'm sure a more deserving and appreciative user can get it

You have no idea what you're talking about, thus you **** into a conversation and turned it into something it wasn't. You're foolish if you think I based the SP2 off ONE SINGLE APP. Idiotic. That was the app that I used as an example as to why one would need to hold the SP2 like a tablet for an extended period of time, because you couldn't follow the flow of the post, I tried to make it simple for you.

If you can't make a valid point, don't quote me. You have nothing to add.

Well, sidestepping all the on-topic stuff...

Best Buy appears to have regained some stock of the 512GB, plus they also still have all of the other capacities available. Managed to grab the 512 I wanted. :)
Hopefully this helps anyone out who's still wanting one and/or a member of Best Buy's reward program.

If it were apple or droid other social media would have flooded by sold out here and there lol,

when apple actually sells a lot of something (see iphone 5s), they post how many they sold in the first x number of days. proudly.

when they don't sell out of a device (see iphone 5c), they get very quiet about it.

this is normal, for any company. if microsoft were actually selling out of large numbers of devices, i believe right now would be 'told ya so!' time for much chest thumping and laughing at apple/google.

i know if my company was selling 5 million of something in a day, i'd be pretty smug about it. :)

People who can't find the SP model they are looking for must live in the middle of Idaho or something. They are readily available pretty much every where I've look. I guess people think not selling out is a bad thing. It's not.
