Surface RT 8.1, what is a compatible wifi booster?

Windows Central Question

Surface RT 8.1 compatible wifi booster.

The wifi is slow, because the router is at the ground floor and I'm living in the first floor. What option do I have to boost the signal, will it be a booster, a router, an extender or any suggestion?
