Swipe down on lock screen to open camera.

Action center to me is meant more for toggles and I wouldnt waste a toggle for camera. Its really not that confusing, Apple uses a swipe up on their lock screen for camera, but they also have a swipe up from bottom edge to unveil toggles. And settings

Also the point of having the camera available from the lock screen is to allow you to access it as fast as possible so you don't miss a shot. Sure if you have a hardware camera button that may be faster and hopefully it gets a little faster with denim, but for those that don't waking up phone and doing a simple swipe is the fastest way to get into the camera. Having to swipe down and then press a toggle takes longer and could cause you to miss the special shot.

People are missing the point. It isn't a swipe and then a press: it's a button to unlock (or double-tap, which on my 925 works about 1 time in 5), then a pull down, THEN a press. That's not trivial. A way to get to the camera immediately is key.
It's great that there's a hardware key on my 925, but the camera loads so PAINFULLY slow that it doesn't matter anyway.
I just tested a 640XL and the camera was really fast (like Android - iPhone fast) but there's no hardware button. So there's two motions to unlock and a button to press and the bear that was eating the cat has now disappeared into the woods))
