Is there a way to switch between the apps that are open?

press and hold the back button, that will open the task screen and you can switch among apps

nope...the only way to close an app is from the app itself by pressing the back button!

Definitely a feature needed .... a missing feature Windows 8 has.

maybe changing with GDR2 or with 8.1 Windows * and WP 8 will be moving closer together and eventually will be the same
