Switching to VZ tomorrow, Icon or M8?

Icon:
Camera
Wireless Charging

M8:
Micro SD card slot
Slightly better processor

It depends on your needs, if you need a great camera, the Icon is the way to go.. If storage is your LIFE (like me) go and get that M8!

Side by side, both are on par but two of the most sought out features of a phone is exclusive to one.. M8 with the external storage, 930 with the great cam.

But if I'm in the situation, M8 no doubt. I got the 1520 so I have the best of both worlds.

Better GPU and memory bandwidth too, along with battery enhancement.

When it boils down to it, that may not matter. But then in the battery thread a member said the M8 outlasted where the icon couldn't. It might make a bigger difference when WP 9 releases.

I had an Icon and have an HTC One.
I miss on the Icon the camera and wireless charging.
I prefer on the HTC One the dual external speakers, expandable storage and slimmer profile.
If you take a lot of pictures and like tinkering with the final image especially cropping and zooming, the Icon is what you want.
If you need or want more than 32GB of storage and make use of external speakers (I do on the countless conference calls I have to endure) I would recommend the HTC One.
Either way, you are getting a great phone.

Had a icon returned it for a HTC one m8. I would say the one just feels better in my hand. Advantages are the ir remote senor, great speakers, dot view case, micro SD, wifi direct. If you dont need a "great" camera then id go with the one.

[WARN]Let's keep this thread on topic and discuss the devices, not each other!

This is a good thread, and I don't want to close it due to it going off topic.[/WARN]

There was this HTC vs. Nokia debate a couple years ago, and in terms of updates and software support, the Lumia 920 is doing better right now with 8X people unable to get GDR 1 right now (from what I read in the 8X forums). And over the life of the phones, the 920 kept getting more and more features that the 8X never did (although I'll admit, with the dot case HTC turned the tables on glance this generation, since Nokia dropped the ball big time in that respect with the Icon). Going forward, I expect Nokia to put more effort into improving and updating the Icon than HTC does with the One.

If you regularly listen to music on your speakers, do the m8. Once you don't have to cup your hand around the back to hear videos/music, you'll never want to again. If photography is most important, go with the Icon.

There's 4 things that make me want the M8. Dot View Case, Beats Audio (the 8x was the most enjoyable device I have ever listened to music on and I miss it), Better Battery Life, and SD Card Support. That being said, some things I don't know if I could live without on my Icon is QI Wireless Charging, Camera, Screen, and Sex Appeal ;) The choice is difficult.

Why are a lot of people forgetting the longer battery life when pointing out the M8's advantages? lol I'm charging my phone every two days now.

Yup! That's why I'm leaning more to the M8. I think it suits me better! I really don't need a 20MP camera but then again I have the 1520 so hey might as well practice my non existent photography skills! Hehehe

Anyways, OP.. This is a tough call so I think it's best for you to research a bit on both devices then compare it side by side. I honestly like the look of the Icon more than the M8 but the M8 has that SD Card Slow which is more important for me than the 'look' of the phone. Also the M8 is gorgeous but I really prefer the Lumia design.

Choice is yours. Get back on us when you made the decision!

I have both phones and you wouldn't go wrong with either of them.

I've had the M8 for just over a week and noticed it is noticeably faster than the Icon. I thought I would miss the built in wireless charging but the battery life is incredible on the M8. Also accessories are more readily available over the icon. No lag when taking pictures which I found annoying on the Icon..but the M8 is not 20MP but getting the shot is better than a 20MP missed moment.

Eh I guess we are different lol. I'd rather have the highest quality and can sacrifice speed(people are exaggerating about it being that slow lmao) for the highest quality :D but to each their own lol.
I notice with the m8 you have a fast camera but there is also the tendency to have to retake photos to get the best image.

So the speed to me is neglible...now if they were both equal im quality, i can definitely give the edge to the m8 then.

Really cant comment on the battery vs icon..i have a 1520 and my battery life is fantastic :) so I take your word for it on that.

I read so much about battery life but what does that mean? For me, excellent battry life means it goes off the charger at 5:30AM, gets the snot beat out of it until 7:00PM and has enough juice to post ridiculous comments like this one until I succumb to exhaustion. Can the Icon or M8 do this? If so, they're great.

It's more bragging points really. If my phone can make it through the day, that's all that matters to me.

I dont care if it can last 2-3 days. Other than to have bragging points.
And when it dies, throw it on the wireless charger
(well not with the 1520 but with other lumias)

Yup.

My m8 does this and more...

For me...it's way more than any bragging rights...it's about never having to worry about charging it like I had to on other phones including the1520 I had before this one. I've listened to many people and what they asked the various store reps while trying in vain to get the1520 to work properly...and the battery life matters to a good number of people....just like the camera does..

With the newest 64bit processors coming out....I think battery life on these will make worrying about it a thing of the past...The m9 will be great....

With only 2 bars of service and WiFi on.. I charge every other day. With the icon it would have to charge nightly.

I love photos on Icon but I tend to snag quick shots... so timing is everything. Waiting to see if cyan helps then make the choice of which phone to keep.

Well, the OP probably already got the phone (what did you decide OP), but I looked at the M8 today. I've had the Icon since about the first week. The M8 is sleek and sexy and seems faster than the Icon. I prefer the physical camera button as it's so easy to be holding the phone and turn on the camera with one long press. Also, actually the M8 screen is slightly smaller when you consider the on-screen buttons. Didn't really like that. I know there are advantages to the M8 and both are nice phones.

You can hide them, thankfully.
