I've just moved house and cbf setting my desktop up (in fact it might live dormant in the garage for the forseeable future) and i'd rather have my phone sync to my laptop anyway. Now most of my documents and photos are on skydrive (probably a few saved pics and such that aren't uploaded there) so when i sync to the laptop is it going to wipe my phone like itunes does with idevices so you lose everything?

No, it will not. For the record, iTunes no longer wipes devices anymore with that "autosync." Though for me, it was too late, since they already did it no less than 7 times on 3 different iDevices (saying, "wasn't going to fall for that again," seems weak in light of that, lol).

Zune "sync" never replaces what you have on your device. It can add in new content to your device, add in new content to your desktop... but NEVER will "clean it out." It also defaults to not auto adding content for new devices. You may sync with multiple computers easily, and grab new content from both of them.

Zune WiFi sync may only be partnered with one computer at a time, however.

All were true of Zune, Zune HD, and still true for WP7 :)

Enjoy your phone.

Excellent i'm glad to see it's going to 'synchronize' the two devices rather than synchronize them by wiping one and copying data from the other.

Good to know that Zune does sync and doesn't overwrite. With iOS 4.xxxx iTunes would still wipe out my 3g.
