t mobile fix for no multi media texts

Just got my phone set up and couldn't get pictures to go either way in text messages. Tried changing the APN settings a few different ways with no luck. Went to the T Mobile store and got a new SIM card. Everything works great now. The old SIM came directly from my Moto X. New SIM is a universal SIM. Not sure what that means but the guy says it's a new product. Anyway, lesson is that if picture messages aren't working it could be the SIM card...
