Temporary files

I've got a 1.25gb cache of temporary files which I can't seem to clear, I've clicked on clear and it thinks about it, but I go back later and they are still there. It's peeing me off as I'm deleting stuff left right and centre to free up memory and there's 1.25gb just sat there. Any ideas?

Thanks, I hadn't done it separately, but have now. It's taken a bit off. Bizarrely it's now showing the temporary files as 1,004.32mb instead of 1gb. Anyway that still leaves me with 1gb that I can't shift.
