Look at the charger ports on the WinPho8 devices shown so far. Where are they?

Nokia and HTC both moved their charger ports to the bottom center of the phone.....but why? Well, it's not a coincidence.

WinPho8 is running Windows 8 (we know that). Plug it into a dock, and it will also run Windows. Well, it is running Windows, but it will actually dock and BE (or become part of) your PC.

Why don't we have the SDK? WinPho8 apps ARE WinRT apps. Just like you define the appearance when it's 'snapped' -- you can also define the phone view. Same app, but different interface for each environment.

So, you can buy an app and it flows from phone to PC to tablet thru everything in between......seamlessly.

Microsoft's big reveal isn't a Surface phone, it's the Surface dock.

The charger ports were moved to the bottom center because it is a required standard for WP8.

And they gave out the SDK to a ton of developers. It's just not publicly available.

I thought they put it in the middle to show neutrality during an election year.

I believe someone mentioned that the port on the Nokia was a different direction than an HTC. Perhaps it was a prototype error...

Would be cool but seems to be a bit far fetched. They probably standardized it so that all windows phones have it easier to get more accessories like music and charging dockingstations.

A bit over thinking there. The point of all the phones having their ports in the same place is to make it easier and more universal for accessory sales. Microsoft wants to create an eco system much like Apples but still allowing multiple hardware vendors to be apart of the picture. That requires in turn mandating certain standards, like everyone having the USB port in the same place.

With MicroUSB being the standard for all mobile phones these days, and them all supporting Bluetooth, i'm supprised there aren't more Docks, that can be used with any Phone.

Standardising the charging port at the bottom can only help with that, and many other accessories.

I for one seriously miss the accessories available on iPhone. Wish i could just plug my phone into my car, and it would work!
