The "How's your Band holding up" thread

If you had read some of the posts on win10 forum and here you would know the band is not usable on win10 and it is suggested only use win10 on spare phone not your every day phone.

Well, my Band was holding up fine until this happened today.

I've had it since November and have had no issues with it before this. Guess I'll need to make a trip to the MS Store.

I had the same issue with the outer clasp (the clasp breaks off the band). The clasp-band connection is too weak: looks like a thin rubber strip. I don't see how the clasp can hold for longer than 1-2 years.

Mine is still functioning, but hasn't worn terribly very well. I bought it the day it came out. I'm still using the same screen protector, but it's peeling off. The area without a protector is scratched. The lock slips frequently. The metal on the heart monitor is bubbling and showing a copper color. One of the battery areas has the black paint stuff peeling off substantially on the inside of the strap. The strap is getting a little too flexible where it attaches to the main device (to an extent where I can see the internals when the strap is flexed open. The straps have several slashes in the rubber from hitting things. The charger sometimes has to be disconnected and connected again to start charging. One strap is wearing thin where it probably rubs my pants. It still works!! I wear it 24/7. It's awesome. Hopefully it lasts a while longer.

I just returned from my local MS Store with a new replacement Band. I had the charging and random shutoff issue plus the inner band areas had separated like the pictures earlier in the thread. The tech was very helpful and it was a painless process

I need to go replace mine as well. Like most people the inner plastic cover that hides the internals against the rubber is pealing off.

I'm finally starting to see issues with the rubber sloughing off from the inner battery area. Others have reported this to be purely cosmetic, but I wonder about skin reaction from the metal. I'm going to experiment with heat-shrink tubing and see how that works.

Nate let us know how this go's lot of us have the same issue and this sounds like a good fix

My only issue with the Band is the rubber coming off over the battery compartments. I'm hoping if anything really bad is going to happen to it, it happens before my Microsoft complete runs out. Also, about the battery covers separating when the band is opened, I'm not sure how Microsoft would ever even fix that. As far as I can tell, the battery covers are inflexible metal, the band can only bend out so far before they start to separate. I slip my band on like a bracelet to avoid that problem. I only spread it open enough to fit over my hand.

I've had mine since the beginning of January, and took a pretty good look at it this morning, and I have to say that it looks like brand-new. I have been doing a lot of running with it in the last few months, and I sweat pretty good, so not sure why mine hasn't fell apart yet.

I'm wondering if it's because I don't spread it apart wide when putting on/taking off.... I only open it enough to get my wrist through it, maybe that's not putting a lot of stress on the battery compartments?? Not sure, but mine is surviving.

Will do! I'm hoping it'll buy me some more time until (fingers crossed) MS brings out a V2. One major concern I have is how the heat shrink tubing will work out against the skin, and will it cause allergic reaction.

I guess it was kind of my fault. I normally wear the Band the recommended way (face on inner wrist) 99 percent of the time, but have found that I have better hr accuracy on the treadmill by wearing it on the outer wrist, with the hr sensor on the inner. I got lazy the other day, and instead of completely releasing the clasp, I just loosened it up all the way and slid it around. Big mistake, that's when a piece of rubber peeled off.

I had to get my band replaced because it became so worn that the heart rate stopped working because the sides were coming off

Both mine and my wife's are having issues... Mine looks like the covers over the batteries is just coming off from the seams and my wife's is splitting right next to one of the batteries...

Debating if I should try contacting MS or just go through the extended warranty we purchased... The later is probably easier, just not sure if they have stock readily available?

Sizing problem. The assortment of heat-shrink pieces I got has some that are almost big enough to slip on.......but not quite. Gotta see if I can source some a tad larger in diameter.

Mine was doing great until today. I've had it since November. A little bubbling on the charger port/HR area. Screen suddenly decided it didn't want to turn on. Still was able to sync with it and saw there was still like 80% battery. I didn't have a charging cable at work so I didn't try a hardware/factory reset. I brought it into the MS store near me and they exchanged it on the spot after verifying that it wouldn't turn on. Luckily they had stock for my size.

I've had my band since the first of the year. Been fine for 5 months since the end of may I have to tinker and fiddle with the band to get it to start charging and just today the plastic or rubber or black coating is rubbing off on the inside and the band won't charge. I have never used soap and water or anything to clean it so there shouldn't have been any plasticizer issues. If I need a new one I'm probably going to try the fitbit charge at Sam's Club where I can get an extra charging cable for free. This is pretty ridiculous quality control.

My band is doing good, but I'm unable to connect it to my icon since windows 10 update. Any of you have this problem?
You need to un pair the band and your phone and uninstall Microsoft health and then re-pair the band and your phone and then re-install microsoft health. That's what I've seen in the forums here.
