According to a few sim fansites and forums around the web, yesterday a blog post on the official Sims website revealed that The Sims Freeplay on Windows Phone will be shutdown on August 1st 2014. (link now pulled, originally here: Page Not Found - Community - The Sims 3)

Anyways, news says that EA will be shutting down the servers for the Windows Phone version of The Sims Freeplay on August 1st, 2014, as well as pulling it from the marketplace.

The Sims 3 and The Sims Medievil will remain in the store despite this. (Although TS3 will go free until September)

The official blog said:

-----------------------------------

" As of August 1st, 2014, Electronic Arts will be shutting down the online servers for The Sims Freeplay on Windows Phone devices. We understand that many of our players still play the game, and as a way to make up for ending the game, The Sims 3 will be free on Windows Phone 8 devices until September 1st, 2014. Anyone who purchased content for the game in the last month will be refunded, and the store will be closed down July 10th, 2014 to prevent anymore purchases. We thank you for playing The Sims Freeplay and we look forward to introducing new experiences to you shortly."

I am slightly curious as to why they are shutting this down, and as to why they removed the blog post. Last I knew, TSFP was one of the most popular games on Windows Phone devices... and ugh. Couldn't they have given TS Medievil for free instead of TS3? The Sims 3 on Windows Phone is horrible.

when are they making it free? its still paid in the store

Well, assuming its to be believed, TS3 will probably go free when The Sims Freeplay is pulled.

Great, put hours and hours into this game, I wish they would at least give us the option to migrate to the Android version via the cloud saving feature, which works across iOS and Android but the WP version seems to be separate.

My question is why recently release for 512 devices just to later have the game pulled? That doesn't make sense to me.

I had recently uninstalled the game just a few weeks ago...
I played the game for 10 weeks and now I hear that the game is available for 512 devices... :|
and now there's news that they are gonna pull the game from the WP store, it doesn't make sense, hmm...

It's my second time repeating the game from scratch and making it to level 25... don't know if I'll do it again, maybe if EA would fix the cloud feature I would consider playing again....
