I have honestly tried to run out my 3gb at&t plan since I got the 920. Impossible for me. If I had something to tether on I might get close but I'm netflixing and Nokia musicing my heart out and hardly break 2gb. If I were you I would do the 3gb. Just watch downloads and streaming and make sure you check your data daily.

I think AT&T throttles at 3GB, at least they throttle my friend at 3.

Do you have WiFi at home? I do and I use about 600MB a month of my data plan but I use like 4GB on WiFi.

There are tons of factors to consider but if you're only tethering in places where there's no WiFi, you'll be fine. It won't be long before AT&T makes you choose between unlimited and subsidies anyway.

Throttling won't happen until you reach 5GB, if you have an LTE device. Older devices without LTE get throttled when you reach 3GB.

Unlimited Data can be subject to throttling, limiting, and 'fair use' policy; on my provider (3, UK), there is no throttling, only a 1000GB cap!
