I know someone that owns this device, the Lumia 822, and let me tell you, this phone is pretty much waterproof!
After helping them dry and restore their phone after an initial drop into some water, I didn't expect it to survive when I powered it on. To my surprise, it did!
Not too long after, they spilled some tea on the device. This time, I expected the phone would most likely die a permanent death, and that they would have to replace it via insurance.
I guessed wrong; the Nokia simply said, "Nope," and it was fully restored after a day of drying. I don't know about other smartphones and how much liquid most of them can survive, but imo, the 822 won a medal...
