tired of Windows Phone not getting respect

I've even dual-booted Windows 8 onto my MacBook Pro (I get a LOT of stick for that btw!)

My office workstation is a 21.5" i3 iMac with 8gb of RAM and a 1tb HDD, running Windows 8 via Boot Camp. I don't even boot into OS X any more, other than to check it every couple of weeks for updates. Then it's right back into Windows. Before Windows 8, it was Windows 7. (We're a Windows shop but our upper management used to be Mac users, so the IT department - even developers like me - had to get Macs to support them.)

If you're getting hassled for running Windows 8 on a Mac, tell the haters to shove it: Apple makes the best Windows machines EVAR. :)

agreed, macbook air is still my best windows machine :).

Here's the thing, remember that Apple fangirl I talked about that I'm trying to get with. Even she doesn't give me stick for it, of all people. Heck, her iMac and MacBook Pro (lucky <Attempted to beat the filter, removed> having both of those!) is boot-camped with Windows. One is Windows 7, the other is Windows 8. But I do often get told "Why put Windows on a Mac? If you want Windows you should just buy a Windows laptop for a lot less cost and with a lot better specs".

Do you go to a Starbucks and boot windows on your mac to receive hate from apple users? And where can I go to piss these people off and receive proper hate. I like to see stupidity in action.

I make better windows machines.

Doubtful.

When you have all the hardware provided by one vendor who also provides, QAs, and supports the drivers, you get much better integration with the OS on the whole which makes for a more stable system. I have *never* had a blue screen or any other sort of crash on my Windows-powered iMac. I can not say that about the Toshiba laptops I've had, the Compaq desktop systems I've had, the HP servers I've had, or the component-built systems I've made.

Note I didn't say anything about cheaper. There is no question that buying a Mac specifically to run Windows is financially stupid. Had my company not required me to have a Mac to support our execs and Windows to support the rest of the company, I'd not have this configuration. But I do and it's rad and super stable and I'll be sad when I finally have to replace it because it's too outdated. :)

Absolutely this. Mac running Windows. No issues. My custom build with Intel i5 etc, it freezes quite a bit. And it is a decent spec. But my Mac just doesn't want to crash in either Mac OS or Windows OS.

Well besides the trolling, you have to admit, Windows Phone still does less than iPhone. Microsoft should have realized this and brought Windows Phone to equal parity with iPhone at the very least if they expect the users and apps to roll in.

"Besides the trolling?" That's all you're doing, my good man!

I saw a guy running Visio in Windows 7 on his MBP at the Starbucks in my neighborhood. That was his only option, since there is no Visio for OS X.

No. That I do not. Believe it or not I still use the Mac partition. It's my only choice as my ?2'500 Adobe Creative Suite 4 Master Collection key is for Mac. I shall be upgrading in due course. But I will still buy for Mac. Sure, I can buy it for Windows but if I end up having to edit a video project at home that is being done in Final Cut Pro I have to use the Mac. I am a media guy. For me it would just be easier to keep all my media stuff on the Mac partition. Also, I do all my presentations in keynote so I can use Keynote Remote on my iPod. I have a very strange usage case and while I want to largely consolidate to Windows, there are certain things I want to keep to Mac. But the dual boot still annoys them. Especially when I have a Windows 7+8 desktop unit that I will likely soon triple boot Linux on to.

I have none of the issues you describe. The only blue screen I've ever seen on this box was when I pushed the clock to high and didn't compensate with a high enough voltage. The blue screen even told me exactly what happened. It said something about not enough power, clock cycles dropped. Windows 7 is quite stable for any operating system that has legacy support all the way back to some 98 applications and supports almost everything.

I even converted my gf from mac years ago. She kept asking to use my PC because it did stuff that mac didn't do yet she would argue that her Macbook Pro was "amazing" and "the best".

Can't go wrong with a linux dual boot. Personally, I just use a VM from within windows to run Linux distros. You can actually see that in one of my images there. The green terminals are me coding python in Ubuntu.

I don't get the US people mentality, either this or I haven't met yet a single ignorant person who would say something bad about a product that they did not use, people here are very respectful towards each other's choices and are open to new ideas.

My friend for example, been Apple ****** for a long time, I told him about WP8, Windows 8, etc. guess what, he switched from iPhone 4S to Lumia 920 and Macbook (sold 2 expensive mac displays too) to standalone custom built PC

Telling the truth about how Microsoft has done a disservice to their users by not including even a majority of the features from other smartphone platforms and thus keeping people from wanting to switch to it, thus keeping devs from wanting to write apps for it is now trolling?

If the rest of the current Windows Phone userbase is in as much denial as you, WP is not even going to stand a chance against BB10 in the USA when it comes out.

You better start cracking the whip on Microsoft to start rolling in those much needed features or it's going to be a lonely next few years for you guys.

You'd be surprised how many suggestions there are on the Windows Phone user voice page. Every platform has its complete die-hards though. How do I know this? I for example used to be a BlackBerry evangelist. If it wasn't BB, it wasn't worth my time. Then O2 screwed up my contract and forced me off BB. Best move they ever made!

A majority? The only reason Android had every feature iOS had was that it just copied it. The first drawings of a Google made phone looked like a blackberry, you know why? When that idea was going around Google, Blackberry was the popular phone. Then the iPhone came, and then Google went back to the drawing board to try and come out with an OS that was similar to Apple's but gave them the ad money instead of another company. That is android.

You are trying to compare that to what Microsoft has done. Windows Phone 7 (and more 8) is trying to rethink how people can use the phone in a better way then the other two. If it had every feature of the other two, it would just be creating another of the same. There will be some growing pains, but like I have said before the product that comes out of the box before you install 1 app is so much better on WP8 then any other system out there. There are some clamoring for a notification center because that is what they are used to looking for. However, live tiles are something new that shows me a lot more just by looking down at my phone then anything I had on my iPhone or Nexus. Down the road I think Windows phone should add a place where we can see a history of toasts, and I am sure something will be done if enough people want it. Working with exchange for work, no phone works better with that. The to do list in my calendar app is done better then any other iteration. Having Office with access my companies sharepoint makes my life a lot easier, which is the point of these devices. This is not a toy, it is a productivity device that allows its users to be more productive. Yes we all like to play game every now and then, but if I wanted to game I would go to play with my xbox.
