To all former Lumia 920 owners

If battery is your concern then 830 or the 1520 are your options. I went from a 920 to the 830, couldn't be happier. But I still love my 920

i move from 920 to 925 and then to 930!! 930 is great, the only thing i miss is glance. apart from that 930 is better all the way!! great screen, better battery life faster, better camera... ... and all that came with denim. and future support. veru happy. but, still got a 920 ready for w10, and i love it there is something special about this fat bas%%&&##ard

I'm still using my 920 that I got at launch on AT&T in 2012. I see nothing to upgrade to, so I'm just waiting.

1. I don't like the HTC One (M8)'s compromises of a mediocre camera, a lack of camera button, on-screen navigation buttons (prefer them off-screen), and lack of Lumia firmware.
2. The 1520 is larger than I'd like, the glass seems a bit brittle (folks have reported cracking from typical use), and its hardware is about to turn 2 years-old. Signing up for that for another 1-2 years seems pointless.
3. The 830 is a flagship-priced budget phone with a couple of fancy gimmicks, which isn't an upgrade for me. The SoC is inferior to my 2-year-old one, and the display resolution is a downgrade from the 920 as well. I have no desire to sign on for decreased performance for my next 1-2 years of smartphone use, and the things like SensorCore and a somewhat-improved camera don't make up for the sheer lack of high-end parts in the device.

So, I'm waiting for this alleged summer launch of a Snapdragon 810-toting flagship.

I went with the M8 and I really like it, but I did keep my 920, there is just something I really like about that phone, for me I think it is the heft and feel of it in my hand and I still use it when I am going to be outside a lot, you can't beat a Lumia for sun light viewing.

just recently changed from 920 to 1020, only reason was for the camera side of things, the 920 wasn't enough for me after having an 808, i went for the 64gb version and have since added the wireless shell (which i missed very much initially) and now its great, better than my 920 in fact, and at first i didnt like the ergonomics to hold, but now the charging shell makes it nice and thick and actually smooths out the hump to make it better in the hand.

much preferring the amoled display vs the 920's LCD also, as glance is brighter and everything looks much better imho. even though same innards virtually apart from ram 2gb, i swear it runs better overall than my 920 ever did, i suspect its utilizing some of that extra 1gb ram, even if small amount for daily use not just reserved for camera.

Thanks for your replies guys

I'm just want something that I can use for another two years until summer 2017 and future proof with updates 1520 is my best bet at the moment but maybe its successor is worth waiting for.....just maybe

If you need a new phone, buy one now (930/1520). If you don't, wait and see what comes over the next few months.

Personally I wouldn't buy anything without a SnapDragon 800 series processor if you want a step up and some future proofing. 830 is a nice phone, but isn't much different to the 920.

Actually, I went the other way. :)
I tried the 930, 925, 735, 1020, 1520 and 830.
I still have the 830, the others were all returned.
About 4 weeks ago I ran across some comparisons (on youtube and written) between the 920 and the 1520 (much "better" hw, haha).
The youtube videos were particular an eye opener, showing, side by side, the 920 being fast on a lot of things than the 1520.

So, I bought a new 920 and for the last 3 weeks or so my 830 has been sitting back in it's box. :)
With the single exception of battery life, my 920 simply eats the 830 for a snack.
Much more responsive and faster on everything and not a single problem in about 3 1/2 weeks now.

I had the 920 from launch but a few months ago upgraded to the unicorn 1520.3. Love my decision thus far. I got a good deal on it from a friend of mine which preserved my att upgrade eligibility for when the new devices come out later this year. The biggest thing was the improvement to battery life. I am still getting used to not having to charge my phone on the way back from work at night because I have more than 50% battery life left. That being said, it is only a few months away before the announcement of the new lumias/surfacephones/microsoftphone so it might be worth either waiting or purchasing the 1520.3 and then selling it after the new phones come out to recoup some of your cost.

I would love to have the green 1520 but it's exclusive to US At&t I like the call it the Incredible Hulk Phone. Any Idea how much it would cost here in UK and is it worth the upgrade?

Much appreciated cheers 😁

I used my 920 all day yesterday and used it a lot and was at 65% batter left when going to bed. That includes txting, calling and streaming music too. I am pretty happy with battery life on my 920.

1520. I did because of its battery and larger screen but primarily because of it's battery.

May I ask from where you purchased your Unlocked 930? I am also on AT&T and I wasn't sure if I wanted to loose LTE.
Q: Won't LTE be used in the near future for making Voice over IP calls?

After over two years with the 920 I went ahead and bought a 1520.3 from B&H after they were back in stock again around Christmas. They say the black is discontinued and the others were not available for weeks. Don't know how long they will stay around. I never carry it in my pants pocket and have had no problems with the touch screen. As long as Qi charging is available I will stay with that, so convenient. The battery will last two days for me, very few phones can do that.
If I bounce tested this one I would buy another.

I have a > 2 year old L920. Was considering the M8, but it didn't seem that big of an upgrade. I have heard rumors of an M9 with a better camera coming from HTC. If it has Windows Phone and a larger, better camera sensor, I may get it though I'd miss the wireless charging. Other than that, I can wait until the W10 hero phone.

I also have a 635 that I got for cheap. It is a phine phone.

I just checked on ATTs site and the green 1520 is no longer on sale. They have the 1520 with 16gb of internal storage however for 584.99 which is a ripoff but upon looking on ebay I saw a few going for anywhere between $200-$400 so that might be worth a shot. You just have to verify that the bands are compatible. I would suggest the 1520.3 over the standard att 1520 because you get both QI charging and 32gb of memory included instead of nothing and 16gb.
