To all former Lumia 920 owners

I don't keep a DSLR on me. Sometimes when your ******** pets are doing something you want to take pic of, your phone is the best option. Animals rarely sit still for long. 920 had awful shutter speed, IMO. I'm not a photograher, just a point n shoot type of person.

yeah, I could see that, my border collie gets irrate when we take his picture...no idea why, if you take your phone out and act like taking a picture, he starts barking, I think its the flash and he knows its coming. Yeah, most of the stuff I take pictures of is still

"Problem being that Windows 10 flagship wont come out until probably end of year 3rd quarter earliest and my contract ends in Summer "

I don't know about your provider but, with many, when the contract expires, it just goes month to month. If that is the case for you, just do that until you find the phone you want and then renew.

I have recently upgraded to a 930 from an 820. The 830 was out of the question as it doesn't have amoled and the apu is a downgrade. I miss the security of a removable battery and an SD card, but the 930 is way faster (the 820 has the same apu at the same speed as the 920) and feels massively better. That's coming from a phone that already had an excellent amoled display. The 930 is going for some good deals right now, you will be getting the last great Nokia designed phone. You can then skip the new MS Surface 1 Phone experience and get a Surface 2 or 3 phone in a couple of years when it's a bit more refined. Good plan, I think.

Oh, and if you wait for a new flagship it'll come with Win10 most likely. If you don't like it (it looks increasingly likely that I won't) then you'll be stuck. The 930 will retain WP8.1 compatibility so you can roll back.

I moved to a 930. As compared to the 920, the biggest differences are the screen size and the camera. Now with Denim, there are a few other features as well that aren't possible with the 920.

I have AT&T, so I don't get LTE on the 930. But, I don't miss LTE too much. I was impressed with it when I had it on the 920, but I don't complain about not having it now.

I don't miss glance at all. I just double tap the screen, and see what glance would have shown me anyways. Now, it's actually sort of weird to see a glance phone - as in "hey turn that off". On my 920, glance went off when the phone was idle anyways.

The 930 has a higher density screen than the 920. It's AMOLED as opposed to IPS. I personally like IPS better, but the 930 screen is a big step up from the 920.

I honestly don't notice too much difference in processor speed, because I'm not normally doing things that require hyper processing power. There are a few games that seem a little more fluid, but that be more mental than real - I can't tell.

On the whole, I think the 930 is the best phone I've ever owned. I would not have said the 920 was the best I had owned, but it was a lost-cost way for me to feel out WP. I really liked WP over the other OS's. Once I decided that, it was onward.

By reading your post, it looks like there was no reason for you to upgrade.

I mean, you say you don't notice that much of a difference in terms of speed (CPU). You liked the 920's screen better, and so on.

I also have a 920 and I feel there is no reason for me to upgrade.

Regards.

Went iPhone and after getting used to iOS, not really sure where all the hate comes from, except pure ignorance. It outperforms my old 920 in every area. I'll look at Windows Phones again in a year. If nothing looks good, I have no problem getting an iPhone 8.

Iphone? Don't make me laugh.

I bought an Iphone 4 when it came out, and although it was awesome in several areas, such as the retina screen, speed of navigation and so on, after each ios update the navigation became slower and slower, until ios 7 finally killed it. It looked like a slideshow when I tried to navigate (swipe left and right, enter the menus and so on).

With Windows Phone (Lumia 920), the navigation is smooth as it was, even after all the updates.

No quite true. In general, I like IPS screens better than AMOLED, because they are more resistant to screen burn.

However, the quality and clarity of the 930 screen is way past the 920. The camera is much better too And, the screen is larger, which I like.

Those are my main reasons for upgrading. Made sense in my mind.

I will say, I was able to upgrade for much cheaper than many of you probably can. If it was a $400 upgrade for me, I'd probably wait.

My 920 has been acting flaky, especially the Bluetooth connection to my headset for work calls. So I am using a cheap 635 while I try to figure out my next move. Definitely contemplating iPhone 6 for the camera features. Would like them to hurry the hell up and produce the successor to the 1020. By the way, after using my little budget 635 most days, the 920 feels and looks so damn premium. I miss having a premium phone as my daily driver. 😞

Cant believe Microsoft/Nokia haven't bettered the 920 yet, I would be interested in a 930 but the lack of glance screen really pisses me off, I love it on my 920, so the 1520 is my only choice but finding one in the UK is very difficult and for a reasonable price its impossible, going to wait to see if any decent flag ship comes out this year if not I feel I will have to get a bloody iphone, wont go back to android, and don't really want an iphone but the lack of decent apps and decent phones on the windows side is starting to drag

Maybe time for a hard reset on the 920? Might fix the bluetooth issues?

I don't understand why Glace is such a screen dependent feature. Seems like something that could be implemented at the OS level. On IPS screens, the whole screen is lit anyway. When you think about it, its just a lock screen on top of another lock screen anyway.

I think the on Galaxy S4 it uses the camera? Either way, its not nearly as good as my L920
