Trying to restore a backup

I'm trying to restore a backup but I get stuck on step 3.

My phone restarts at step 2 then there is a screen with a phone with a usb cable with an arrow pointing at a laptop.

I'm assuming this means "plug your phone in to the computer" ... but it's already plugged in :/

After it restarts again and boots up normally I get 801812E0 error code

I've tried this with two different backups and it's not playing ball

Were you able to do the backup?
