Typecover 2 Bluetooth Compatibility

Hey, new to WPC forums, I tried searching for this but couldn't find an answer, so if it exists in another thread I apologize.

I don't have a Surface tablet yet, but I want a bluetooth keyboard for my Win7 laptop and my BlackBerry, does anyone know if the TypeCover 2 with the bluetooth add on would work with these? Or other bluetooth capable devices in general? Or is it only compatible with Surface's?

I figured if I could, I'd get the Typecover now in case I get a Surface Pro in the future.

More than likely it would work as it would just be a regular Bluetooth keyboard at that point.

I assume Blackberry supports Bluetooth HID (Human Interface Device) keyboards by now. I know back in the day, Blackberry only worked with Bluetooth SPP (Serial Port Profile) devices, but I think that's changed. There aren't really any SPP keyboards made any more - the Bluetooth adapter would definitely be HID.

So in other words, it should work, but without knowing how old your Blackberry is it'd be hard to say for sure.

Ok thanks, yeah they're all BB10 so they support HID. I was just worried Microsoft would somehow do something to make them only work with Surface's, I guess I could try it and if it doesn't work just return it.

On second thought, the Typecover is $130 and the bluetooth wireless adaptor is $60, $190 is too much for what I'm looking for. Thanks anyways!

Yeah, it's unfortunate how much the privilege to own a Surface costs. To some it's worth it, to others, no so much. Don't expect it to change, either, as Microsoft doesn't plan nor expect to take over the world with this thing. They seem to be embodying the Steve Jobs mantra, "We're focused on making quality products that we'd be proud to own and recommend to our family and friends. These aren't for everyone, we don't want to make crap."
