I think the MS branding and the shiny metal logo at the back. Apart from that I guess it would be the battery life. really wanna see what 14 hours of battery life feels like

First I got to say this about the surface pro line, I never been so happy and satisfied with a computer ever.
Smooth updates, active communities like this.
I do a lot of photography so for me the SP line was pretty given since it's very portable and I can do touch on the fly with a great pressure sensitive screen and pen, I love it!

My son spilled a glass of juice on the keyboard and it got wasted, picked up a new keyboard on eBay that cost less then what it would've costed to service a regular laptop.

Build quality is truly amazing and hard to find flaws with it.
Been looking at the surface book, but hard to justify the price when the surface pro line is so good unless you really need the extra horse power the powerbase offer on the surface book.

Just a few thoughts 👍😊

what ultimately is cool about the Surface Laptop is how much it can do in such a thin and light package. Sure, you see the skeptics pointing out cheaper machines or more powerful machines. But none of these machines have the same features in the same price range. I see people pointing out the Lenovo X1 Carbon which is actually more expensive, doesn't have a touchscreen, has a 1080P screen, and doesn't have pen input. I see people pointing out the Dell XPS 13 (I actually owned one of these as well). This one also only comes with 4 GB at the $999 price. 1080P touchscreen when buying the touchscreen. A web cam that looks up your nose. I do think the practically bezel-less display is pretty cool but 1080P? I see people pointing out 4 lb laptops. 15" laptops. People shopping for a Surface Laptop are not looking at 15" bricks.

Microsoft isn't designing the Surface Laptop to fit all buyers. If your main goal is bang for the buck, the Surface Laptop isn't for you. But if you want a versatile thin and light laptop with a beautiful touchscreen in high resolution with pen input wrapped in good quality components, then the Surface Laptop is in the discussion.

If I was in the market for a traditional laptop, the Surface Laptop would be up for strong consideration (especially in burgundy!!!). But I'm firmly in the Surface Pro camp and can't imagine getting a laptop anymore. I was done with laptops after the Acer S7 (beautiful for its time) and the Dell XPS 13.

I agree with almost all (maybe all?) of the "reasons to buy" stated above. And a Surface Laptop would be my next PC, if it had a 360 degree hinge. But, sadly, it does not. So I'm headed for the new Surface Pro. My beloved Surface Pro 3 will be donated to the family.

A family member has the Dell XPS 13 -- very nice laptop. The HP Spectre is nice too, but I prefer the Dell a bit more. But if specs matter less, and you just want a mainstream laptop, the Surface looks great.
