I am unable to rollback to Windows Phone 8.1 from Windows Mobile 10 Technical Preview on my Lumia 630(Single sim, CV). When connected to the Lumia recovery tool, it says the firmware is up-to-date. Whereas, when I connect my friend's Lumia 630(Dual sim, CV) it says an update is available. Showing the firmware update: 02040.00021.15053.36003. Though, we both are on Windows Mobile 10 Technical Preview and have same firmware number: 01061.00066.14235.36002. Couldn't get how is this happening. Any enlightenment on this issue would be welcome.

You could install the windows phone recovery tool as this is a more updated program. The Lumia recover tool is a little old. Try and see can you rollback using the windows phone recovery tool.

It always says "firmware up to date". Run it anyway and it takes you back to 8.1. I agree with Djeire though. Try the Windows recovery tool.

I have been using the Windows Recovery Tool. When I try to update it says up-to-date. And it gives the option to reinstall the firmware.
Will update with the screenshot in a while.

You do not need to update your post with a screenshot.
The firmware (WP 8.1 and W10 TP) is the same but the OS software not.
And the tool compares the firmware.

And if you install the (same) firmware you will get back the WP 8.1 OS software.

So please do not wonder but just push accept if you want to roll back.
