Unbelievable Instagram hasn't had updates. I think we need to make some noise let them hear us!!

I agree. The number of apps in the App Store, Play Store and WindowsPhone Store is irrelevant if a vast majority of those apps are crap. I use about 10-15 apps on any device. Who cares if there are 999,000+ apps in the store that you will never use.

i was one of those who translated Rudy's 6tag to Arabic.. i love the app my self.. and it's so much better than the official app.. but no third party developer can give you the full experience what ever he will do.. as the available APIs are quite limited..
you can't upload a video if you didn't shot it right now.. what the hell..
i do appreciate what WP developers are doing.. But unfortunately it isn't enough..

Wow. 100% on the same boat with you. Been a loyal WP fan for 4 years but this is getting on my nerves. More and more official apps are being released and app count is actually fine, but the quality is not. Far from good. What I heard most, almost anywhere regarding WP is "coming soon".

I may only be one user, but I've been around long enough to know that size isn't the only thing that matters. If we wildly assume that 1/2 of the iPhone App store is games, we're now looking at 500K apps that perform some needed or desirable function. So let's say we have 10 number of categories: social media, photo/video apps, banking/life stuff, health & fitness, travel, news, work stuff, food, + 2 more that are really important to some individual user. I confess, I'm a would-be awesome photographer if collecting multiple photo apps could make me one. I probably have 20 apps in this particular category. Wild-*** guessing, I have an average of 10 more in each of the other categories. Sooo, 20 + (9 x 10) = 110 apps. Add the 30 or so games, and my phone has 140 apps installed (the number is actually 157).

My point is this: if a dev wants to publish a utility app (let's say something along the lines of Jack of All Tools, a personal favorite), he/she can do so in the iPhone store and offer one of the 10,000 apps with similar features and functions (where becoming a featured app is dependent upon the number of downloads), or he/she can dev for WP (where ratings determine ranking) and actually have a shot at creating some buzz and generating some revenue. I'm not a dev, but I've studied marketing and economics...

So please, next time you see an article with a crApp count or someone declares their reasons for buying an overpriced iPhone, ask them how many of the million are worth downloading, keeping, and possibly even buying.

As for official apps, I am shopping for a fitbit. I think other companies are watching to see if their recently added support for WP will result in an uptick in their revenues... I'm only one user, but I will vote with my $$$ to show that it was a smart move on FitBit's part.

I'm sorry while I agree with a lot of what you said, the quality of the WP apps are not up to par at all. Even if a lot can do what iOS / Android does, updates are another story. Who gets what first is pretty important now with trends refreshing so fast. By the time the hot app arrives in WP the heat is already gone. It is getting better by the years but as a fan for 4 years, the early years were not easy to handle.

One good example would be that Skype still cannot send files. The last time I sent a file with Skype outdoors is 4 years ago. I've mentioned this countless times and each time I am baffled by this fact.

OneNote (and Office) is better on IOS and Andrid too.

This is a good point, but applies more to developers to than users. As an unknown developer, I might have a better shot at getting noticed on WP than Android and iOS. However, as a user, I do better on Android and iOS because I get a much larger choice of apps.

For already well known developers, this doesn't apply so much. People are already well aware of Spotify, Angry Birds, etc and will search for those apps anyway.

I use the official IG app because the scrolling seem to be a lot smoother on my Lumia 1520 vs 6tag. Another problem is that images are fuzzy, the ones I upload and the ones that I see in my news feed. I don't have those problem on ios or android, so they don't care about us windows phone users. Like everyone else says, they need to update the app to windows phone 8.1, make it universal and that would be quite clutch. I've lost people away from windows phone because were lacking features from the counterparts of other operating systems. That is why MS is not retaining market share, and obviously for other reasons too.

Surely there are people who are fan of Rudy's work, and some who prefers an official app. I think comments who ask people to "get another phone" or "use 6tag it's better" is just.. redundant.
I do agree that we should all vote 1 star for the official Instagram app. It's been months without update, and people like me who have been on the WP ship since WP7 have waited a long time for them to deliver. It's ridiculous. We don't even get to upload video. Sure, 6tag has that capability, no offence but Rudy has been slacking too. Maybe I'm ignorant, maybe he requires specific APIs, but where are filters for videos? Why can I not upload video from my camera roll?

Both Instagram and 6tag are in need of update. Yes, 6tag is better, but it's not exactly a solution.

Sorry to hijack the thread but is anybody having issued uploading pics through 6tag?

I can get as far as the page where you chose to upload the full pic or crop to the square.

If I choose the square format it works but if I chose the full picture option the app will just close.

Is this a known issue?

(Lumia 920 8.1)

Yes. I have this bug with 6snap too. Even with 8.0....

Well... If one app, makes you hate wp.......then shut the door on the way out.
Cant be arsed today!

People have a right to voice their concerns. I love WP but I'm not in denial either; it's got some problems.

I used to get totally defensive about WP too.... But this isn't a member of your family or your girlfriend. It's ok to admit its shortcomings.

I'm not condoning nitpicking... But when there are legit problems it's ok to say "ya, that really needs to be fixed".

I doubt the app is going to get updates any time soon, unfortunately. All I can say is keep voicing your frustration to their website or whatever, maybe it will eventually pay off.

Just install 6tag. Fells better, looks better, everything works better.

Are you having issues with the app closing when you try to upload pics?

At this point in time I'm using 6tag but have to use the official beta app to upload..... Which isn't a bad thing... Hopefully the more people using the official will convince them to give us an update already.
People complain about not having official apps, then when we get them we shun it in favor of the (admittedly) superior 3rd party.... Doesn't give the first party much incentive to update ya dig?

I've just been stamping my feet about this for the last few days.

It's utterly ridiculous and makes Windows Phone look like a joke.

The solution isn't "Download 6tag". No one buys a Windows Phone for the first time, and searches the store for "6tag". They type in "Instagram". They are greeted with a BETA app that is subpar in functionality and looks like the ugly step child of the "REAL" instagram.

It's insulting and I'd rather they hadn't produced an app for WP at all if this is how they plan to treat it.

F&*K you instagram!
