Unlocked 8x will not connect to att data

I just bought one from the microsoft store and it says that it should connect to att and tmobiles network. I stick my att sim from my 920 into the 8x and all i can get do is make calls and recieve texts. No data though. I've gone into the settings and into "cellular" and tinkered with it to no avail. I've also tried turn it off/on and a hard reset and no change. this is making me sad. Can anyone help? thanks

You probably need to setup your data settings for your device. I know nokia lumia's have the nokia access point app to do that but I'm not sure what the name of the app is for HTC.

They have something similar under "cellular." I can apparently only get 2G which is weird.

Do you live in an area that refarmed? This article is from Android Central (and mentions the HTC One Google Play Edition, but it is applicable to any unlocked AT&T devices.
