unlocked ATT lumia 920 seeing T-mobile LTE

Have a t-mobile prepaid sim card without any data plan, however if the cellular is turned on, it shows 4g/LTE on top of the phone.

I thought the unlocked att lumia 920 cannot pick up the AWS 1700 band so it will not see tmobile's LTE. But did see 4g or LTE on top of my phone when driving around Seattle, WA area. So maybe it was able to connect to the 1700 band as well as the 2100 band. Even though I had no data plan with my plan, did notice the battery was dropping super fast, seemed even faster than playing youtube videos with wifi.

I thought the AWS 1700 band was just for 3G/4G??

The ATT version always had AWS 1700 LTE support - but no AWS 1700 3G support.
