Update path from WP8.1 to W10M?

I'm on limited internet, so I need to buy the right amount of data and I don't want to waste it, it's a bit pricey in here (for me).

So, what is the path of update from WP8.1 to W10M?

WP8.1 -> first TH1 -> first RS1 -> latest/current RS1 update
or
WP8.1 -> first RS1 -> latest/current RS1 update
or
WP8.1 -> latest/current RS1 update
or else?

And how big is the download per update? 1.5GB?

I always get confused with threshold and redstone naming. In terms of build numbers, you'll go from 8.10.x to 10.0.10586.xxx to 10.0.14393.xxx

I have no idea about the update size, but be aware that you will need WiFi. The updates will not download directly over cellular data.
