Upgrading the memory card in my Lumia?

If I use an existing 8GB micro sd card in my Lumia 635/640, can I just copy the data to a larger one once I need to upgrade?

Still waiting on my 64GB micro SDXC card to arrive and want to get going with my new phone today.

No. There has been a discussion about this (which can get technical), but basically it's not that simple - the phone identifies the hardware ID of the card associated with the apps it installs on it, so the apps won't work if they're copied onto a different SD Card even if that new card is used in the same phone.

You will need to move the apps back to your phone before using the new SD Card, where you can move them back to the new SD Card once inserted.

Presumably the data associated with each app (eg music files) can simply be copied over? And then the apps just downloaded and installed again from the Store?
