USB Power Cable

It seems that you can no longer purchase an official Microsoft USB Power Adapter in the UK for hte Surface 3.

So I've been trying to find an alternative power source, so I can have one at home and another at the office.

I've purchased an Anker PowerPort 5 which offers 2.4Amps on all five ports. However, with a standard USB lead, the Surface often reports, that it's power, but not charging.

I then purchased a USB Voltage/Amps Power Meter which display the current power being drawn through to the device as I wasn't convinced that the Anker adapter was supplying 2.4Amps.

After much testing with different cables with both the Microsoft & Anker power adapters, a normal cheap micro USB lead would only supply 1Amp, and more expensive AWG20 Micro USB lead would supply 1.9 Amps, yet the Original Microsoft Micro USB lead would supply 2.3Amps - sufficient to charge whilst in use.

So, what I actually need is a high quality USB lead just like the one Microsoft originally supplied - has anyone found such a lead, or can this still be purchased from Microsoft?

I believe the USB cables for the lumia 1020 or 1520 would also be sufficient - there's a time I tried with my lumia 1020 USB cable and it worked

I haven't used the microsoft charger for 7months now, it always seemed a little unpredictable (powered but not charging) and runs warm to hot.
The Anker 5 port charger has been excellent and I use a 6.5foot Volutz Equilibrium Series Nylon Braided Micro-USB cable 19/24AWG.
The Anker charger runs cool and not once have I had an issue with charging.
If you would prefer the original I have a couple with less than 1 months use.

I took am looking for a spare mains adaptor set up so I can keep one cable in the bag and one permanently plugged in my office.

It really annoys me that I have to have so many different cables with different connections just to run my devices now a days.
