Verizon, LTE and WP7

Considering the timing of events, I am really thinking hard about waiting for a WP7 Verizon phone that will run on the LTE network. My contract is up in January 2011, LTE roll out is pretty much now through 2012 and Verizon WP7 devices won't be available until late 1st qrtr 2011. Does that make sense (no HTC joke here)? Do you think the 2011 release was Verizon and Microsoft thinking LTE?

Man late q1 I was hoping for jan-feb I can hold out that long but if it's any later me and VZW will have issue. I think it was Microsoft but could be VZW I just want that combo soon ill be happy

If they come out with a WP& on LTE with a front-facing camera, it's a done deal for me. Otherwise, it will be one of the new Android phones with LTE & a FF camera.

I would also really like to see the Bing Upgrade with voice navigation.

I'm right their with you I really want a wp7 device at this point wp7 is more appealing than android but I really want lte and a ffc if that can't be supplied then I will buy an Android device and wait for wp to mature a year or so

It's nice desigion, because the quality of Android worse and is a modern.

Listening to a sister site podcast Mickey P suggested that we are more likely to see an LTE WP7 on Verizon before an LTE iPhone! From his lips to Samsungs ears! Need something to compete with the Thunderbolt.

If this combination of phone comes out, I am all over it! Although my Touch Pro 2 phone running on Verizon's network is okay, I'm ready for a much faster phone -- particularly with regards to web browsing. Come on Verizon, let's get a new LTE WP7 phone out now! If you're looking for suggestions, you can base the device on the HTC-7 Pro. Oh, don't forget that the SD card has to have a minimum of 16 GB and preferably 32 gigs! The more RAM the better. Cost is no object!

At this point, I'd be glad to get any Verizon WP7 since my new every 2 has been up since December. I'm looking for a new phone and WP7 is at the top of my list because I use many of Microsoft's services like Live Mail, Outlook, OneNote, and Zune. Although a Samsung WP7 would be nice since they currently have the best WP7 on the market (Focus). And Samsung recently stated that they are ready to delivery 4G phones to all the major carriers...

I'm really hoping to see the Dell Venue Pro or HTC Mozart on Verizon sometime this year. Until one of those phones or something better is on Verizon, it's highly unlikely I'll get a WP7 phone since I am a VZW customer. I really like WP7 and would like to actually be able to use it on a day-to-day basis. Hopefully this will come soon.

I'm kind of iffy on LTE, too many unanswered questions for me. How much are plans going to cost compared to 3G data plans? How is battery life compared to 3G phones? If you leave an LTE area, how is the transition back to 3G? Until those questions get answered with real world reviews I'm holding out.

Looks like this is pretty much moot at this point, in regards to WP7 phones. Given that neither a vendor nor a carrier has announced such a phone, looks like we will all be "holding out" for the time being. :^)

Seriously though, it would be a pleasant surprise if Verizon were to announce such a WP7 phone within the next 6 months. I'm not holding my breath though, given how long it took Microsoft to deliver a CDMA version of the OS, given how long Verizon will take to perform "extensive testing" of a device and given my perception of Verizon's general lack of interest in WP7.

My contract has been up for the past three months, little itchy.

Currently using the Droid X, and have been a little disappointed with the "Same ol' Thing"

LTE doesnt get me to excited. I Dont do that much that need such speeds, Im offered 25/5 at the hosue so no need to replace bandwidth there.

Besides the trophy thats been "rumored" its not really an exciting phone. Verizon is my only choice.

I'm not convinced that 4G is really a deal breaker for anyone at this point until the networks are expanded drastically. It really seems to just be a big buzzword fest with the US carriers.

I think it's more that a lot of people will be locking themselves into a device for the next two years, what if 4G which is already in a lot of places really takes off and becomes really available early into their next cycle? Then they're stuck waiting 18 months or so till their next upgrade.

Just because you won't use it doesn't mean nobody will and it's just a buzz word. I can think of several times where I'd love to have flipped on 4G and done a fast download while working at a remote site and I had to download several hundred MB of software for what I was working on (no wireless available). Will people be leaving it on? I doubt it. But the choice is good.
