Verizon Petition

AT&T has begun to refarm 2g spectrum already so maybe they will bring back unlimited data for LTE and Verizon will follow. However I think the chances of unlimited data coming to AT&T are slim to nil as long as Randall Stephenson is CEO. Verizon moved to tiered data because AT&T moved to tiered data. They could have kept offering unlimited. Verizon is not a cheap company like AT&T, they actually put money into their network.

I really think within two years unlimited data will be history. I don't think that petition will help in the long run, but it's worth a try. I read on various forums about people wanting to leave Verizon if thtey lose unlimited data, but in reality they are just buying time if the go to Sprint or T-Mobile.

Verizon isnt going to change. They are going to make more money this way. The only thing that might change their minds is if people start dropping off of their service left and right, but thats not easy for the consumers. Most people are probably on contract, so if they decide to leave, they have to pay Verizon a bunch of money.

That would be a material change of contract and any if you that are in the middle of one can get off ETF free.

um, unless you go for a subsidized phone you can keep your data. all this means is you won't get a phone for a dollar or whatever crap special they are running. Jacked up MSRPs and subsidies need to die anyways.

I am definitely in favor of subsidies going away, but I want the plan prices to reflect that we pay full price for the phone. I know I can keep unlimited if I buy off-contract, but I see no point in doing that (for me).

I signed it. Your right but, at what point is it enough ?

I've been with Verizon for something like 15 years now(same number) and year by year they keep getting rid of little perks for long term customers (do you remember new every 2 ?). I personally am sick of it. They get rid of the nice little perks and I have to feed only iphones or Android devices because they "CHOSE" to only offer that.

Pretty much if they get rid of the unlimited data, I will get the same deal as a brand new customer and no extras. There would be no benifit for me to stay unless the network is THAT much better.

Dont get me wrong, their network is good for the most part but, My brother has AT&T and it's not too bad in my area.

Verizon, drop my unlimited when I sign a new contract and I will cancel my new contract and go with a new provider.

You do know, they can change plans at any time right ? If that "unlimited" data is no longer a plan, you will get swiched to a newer plan. That happened to me a few years ago on a old 1300 min a month plan when I was out of contract.

I really hope Verizon listens but I doubt it. Even if a million people sign this petition, that's maybe 1% of their customers?

Its not material anything. They aren't applying it to contract. When you go to upgrade and don't buy your phone off contract then it applies. New contract.
