Voids Warranty-What about insurance?

You are still covered by insurance; neither Microsoft nor AT&T can revoke that, as long as you continue paying the premiums. Be aware that there is a deductible on insurance claims ($150 on the high-end Lumias) and you can only make two claims a year.

I know about the insurance price. It's a ripoff. Apple charges less if you have applecare+.

I know this may not have been an option for you (seeing as Microsoft has very limited retail presence), but you should've bought from a Microsoft Store. They offer a $100 insurance plan that extends the warranty to two years, plus includes accidental damage coverage. You get three accidental damage claims, each with a $50 deductible. A very fair deal, if I do say so myself.

Bit late now, I know, but just something to keep in mind for the future. When I smashed my Lumia 1020, they swapped it, no questions asked (well, other than how the hell I destroyed it...)

Not sure how this would void a warrany... This is not a hardware change, it's only software. That statement was done my MS to AKA:Cover their A$$ but, I think it's bull.....

Unless we got the change in the 928/920/1020 etc, that gave us more tiles, no one would notice the change out of the box because there is no visual changes to the homepage.

I downloaded it on my 928....Disapointed that we dont get the new tiles....Oh, well...

It all depends. The Nokia warranty states that any changes to software not done by Nokia may void your warranty. In fact, MS themselves said it may void your warranty, but not that it will.

My Understanding:
• If you drop your device, it breaks, and warranty covers it somehow, then its warrantied.
• BUT, if you install GDR3, your phone starts acting sporadic, the screen inverts colors, and then it bricks, so you send it in, then its not covered (since you'd be sending it in for software issues, which GDR3 voids warranty in that case)

Simplification/tl;dr:
• Hardware is warrantied
• Software and Hardware explicitly damaged by Software malfunctions are not.

It may void warranty, i assume, but what if the official Nokia GDR3 is updated, will my warranty still be void? or just the period between my Developer version and official GDR3 will be called as void? or my phone's warranty will get lapsed fully?
I already have this screen flickering issue with my 920, i mean the screen acts like a bulb, where the screen is blinking. i don't know if blinking or flickering are the same issue.
I have warranty till February end, but i want my device with me till December, am planning to give to Nokia care after that, i cannot be without 920 till December as i have major appointments and Nokia will surely take 10-21 days to revert back to me, their After sales service is worst! had few experiences in the past.
whoa there is no clear explanation or guides on anything as it used to be with Symbian era! but its simpler now but still there are questions always hovering in the minds of n00bs.

After the official software comes out, it will be impossible for them to tell the difference in whether your upgraded or not.
