Re: W10M Insider Preview 14383 Discussion (Redstone Branch, Slow Ring)

All apps are working fine except windows central app opens and tries to load content and just crashes.

Apparently I've been having the same issue from previous builds as well. I'm guessing that it's an app problem, and from isolating several situation, I came to a conclusion that the crash occurs when I'm connected to an unstable or slow internet/mobile data. Well, at least that is the case for me.

I had this issue previous build but they released an update which fixed it. The connection on my end is perfect and even if I connect to ethernet via a hub same issue. Software reset didn't fix it. Haven't tried re-installing yet but doesn't bother me at this point. I use the desktop one for now.

Happy to report that a hard reset seems to have fixed the battery drain problem. Ugly, but it's sometimes a necessity on the Insider Fast ring. :)

The WiFi problem on my L830 is seriously annoying. Once it disconnects, it won't reconnect again until the phone is restarted. I guess it's a newly introduced bug as I didn't notice it on previous build 14379.

That's a pevious build bug, with random behaviour, there's a microsoft.answer entire 3ad on it for feebacks

I'm in a house with my wifi router in the room next to me. I have a gigabit Internet connection. I can assure you that this is a build problem, not an app problem.

To answer the question about background apps (which I'm quite aware of - this isn't my first time with problematic builds):

Settings is highest at 19%
Facebook 17%
Messenger (Beta) 12%
Windows Central (the 8.1 app) 12%
Start is at 10%
The rest are under 10% so I won't bother listing them.

Try turning WiFi off, as that is what stopped the battery hemorrhage on my 950 XL. Before that I was losing 2 to 3% every minute or two.

Thanks for that. I performed a hard reset and that resolved my battery drain issue. I've also upgraded to 14385 and the battery life does seem to be improved.

Wifi helps all phones saving battery. Data carrier is the bigger drainer in every phone, especially in poor signal / switching cells areas
