Wait for Surface Pro 4 or get the new retina MacBook?

My bad, I thought you were being sarcastic. Im probably a little confrontational today, too, which didn't help. Lol. Dieting makes me cranky. :/

Lol no biggie, at the end of the day, SP3 is great, and that's all that matters :)

1) You're asking on a Windows forum, there will be a little bias.
2) Your comparison is similar to going on the Apple forums and asking "MacBook Air or HP Stream 11"

As others have said, you are comparing apples and oranges. Macbook is a traditional non-touch laptop. SP3 is a hybrid device that's primarily a tablet. If you are going to be using the device as a laptop 90% of the time, then SP3 doesn't make sense. If you are going to be using it as a tablet most of the time, then Macbook is not an option.

As far as Core M, Anandtech did an excellent review on performance, and the findings might surprise you - the CPU is very close to i5, while GPU runs out of headroom faster - for games, etc. Core M might be an issue, for productivity (or video), there really isn't much difference. Here's the link to the review (Yoga 3 Pro):

AnandTech | Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro Review: Refreshed With Faster Core M

The story with the Core M gets even more interesting with the Asus Zenbook UX305 (which I think looks better than the Ativ 9). The quick and dirty is that the Zenbook actually has a slower Core M than the Lenovo Yoga 3 (refresh), but in some cases actually performs better. There is a full explanation in the article, but the bottom line is that it seems this year performance will not just depend on the model of processor but also on the design of the laptop itself and how much throttling the OEM has to do.

It's an excellent read!
AnandTech | The ASUS Zenbook UX305 Review

I
actually have a battery issue with my SP3, but I'm going to wait for the SP4 before I exchange it just in case. Keep in mind a lot of concerns about the Core M were because of the first release with the Yoga Pro 3, but it seems like these have been addressed. Even the SP3 does some throttling, and in most usage scenarios it's nothing to be really concerned about.

Agree with you if do not need the touch function and the pen
To me the only thing made me choice the sp3 is there is a pen
