So I'm trying to download a game which is about 800MB over mobile data but keeps saying waiting for WiFi. I set my settings in data usage to unlimited and turned off only download apps over WiFi but no use. This is on my new Lumia 950 xl. Never had this issue on my 930 running windows 10.

Can anyone shed some light?

Thanks

Give it sometime, it might just start downloading after some delay. Have you tried performing a soft-reset and re-try after that?

thanks for your reply.

yes I did a soft reset now, removed the downloads then tried to download the games again over mobile data and still says waiting for wifi.

Not sure why this is an issue with the 950 XL but works fine on my 930.

Any other suggestions you could think of?

thanks again.

There is an option that needs to be checked that says "download over metered connections". This should be checked for it to work, otherwise the phone will try to use WiFi to download a file that size.

This is to protect people that have limits on their data pools.
