Maine is one area I venture into frequently and the VZ coverage there is better. However ATT is both present in the more major areas and improving. But that is one place someone can say there is a difference in the two carriers and they are quite valid. Since my Icon is "working", and the 950/XL have outsourced, I'm sitting for the time being. I can say I have a wide variety of relatives and friends on ATT and they report great results. And ATT is still building out their network where VZ has pretty much said "what you see is what you get". So I'd expect over the life of the next 2-3 years on a phone ATT will likely be close to equivalent (sadly both in coverage and price) to VZ. So if you find you have to switch the difference is not as bad as it was years ago. And remember that CDMA is going to be killed off in a couple of years. That alone, and the royalties that are paid for having that compatibility, is something to weigh in on which carrier you go with. Remember those costs carry over to your costs and will be paid on devices of a given generation potentially even after the network is no longer in use. I tend to think the coverage in Maine for VZ will go down when CDMA dies.
