Waze is the real big news today..

with other developers releasing betas today it was great to see Google owned Waze release a final non-beta product today. Not a fan of neither them or trapster supporting facebook login but I will give this a shot....there are simply no good micro congestion notification apps out there, hopefully Waze will notify me of the bottlenecks I run into on a daily basis on my commute.

I'm with you on this one. Waze definitely adds more value to current WP users than having official Instagram. An official Instagram app shuts up more naysayers, but it's not really needed for current users since we have quality alternatives. I've used Waze on the iPhone and while it drains battery like crazy, it's one of the best GPS apps since it gives you speed traps and accurate traffic conditions (where I live at least). Hope you will find it as useful as I do.

I didn't either until I used it for the first time today. for starters it calls out streets BY NAME which here drive doesn't even do. but what is also cool is I was sitting at a stop light and another waze user pulled up and popped up on my screen like a Facebook poke... very cool. then I got notification that a route was bottlenecking so it rerouted me around it. I have never experienced near real time navigation like that on windows phone.

Here drive announces street names, you just have to download a new voice pack in the options. The default male and female voice don't announce streets.

Gave it a good go tonight on my way home.... Its a no go for me until they fix the battery drain issues while plugged into charging.

So I presume it has voice turn-by-turn navigation? And do you need fast Internet connection?

not only that, you can report traffic condition, hidden police, haze and some on to others waze users. ofcoz u will able to see others reported too.
well if it works well, really a gd app to have.

Anyone else notice that if you lock your phone while using Waze and then turn it back on, the app has completely closed?

For me, the battery drain is ridiculous. I can see an increase in battery charge while using Here Maps/Drive, but Waze drains like crazy. It's a nice app, but they need to fix the drain.

This is on their list of known issues. They'll address it, I'm sure. But I do not disagree with them launching the app, even with shortcomings. One of the most important features of any product is that it ships. The rest can be added later.
