I only see quite a few aspects pleasing yet those have problems too. I go for the scientific method instead of philosophical ones because they give better results.

I didn't follow the discussion, but just out of the blue: I think science and philosophy try to answer absolutely different questions in different approaches.

Oh, for your information about the 'take two aspirin and call me in the morning'. It's been used as a joke for a long time (use to see it on TV a lot) but it originated with real doctors who couldn't be bothered going to a house call (yes they actually went to people's houses in the old days) due to simple aches and pains.
