It's sad. I tried so hard but it's the UI I don't really like. I do like Cortana though. Can you get her on a tablet?

well they are planning/ hinted to make cortana available in their tablets and desktops

The tiles are nice but the way the apps are just lists, they should be icons to my eyes. I'm used to seeing icons and couldn't adjust to the list.

dang that tiles ! but in all seriousness, I do think people are used to the grid approach from IOS and Android and BB. its not for everyone :/ .

The most recent thing I did was update Windows with one of those KB updates on Friday.

what you could do is a system restore and wait a week before you install the updates again. if you don't get BSOD after a while ,then you culprit could be the update

I have way too many programs and way too little time to do that though.
