WC 1M Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

It's good to hear that you are feeling a bit better, which is a start. Don't be too hard on yourself, it takes time to heal.

That is true, you can't imagine how glad I'm for feeling better, it was about time.

Well I can't not to be, it's me who failed, truth to be told there was a strong factor that made it all happen. But you know, I can't be safisfied with the fact that I'll be a first year again. That was definitely not part of my plans.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Don't get me started on maths. Compared to this, everything we did in past years was literally 2+2.
Yep, it is quite bit harder, what you thought in middle school were the hardest examples are here just a basic thing you need to do to get to the end of calculation :) What kind of stuff dis you have at maths?

I'm not sure if these are the right words in English, but in Engineering Mathematics 1 we did rows, arrays(convergence and divergence), then we did some complex numbers and finally integrals and functions.

In EM2, we continued with functions, partial derivations, some more integrals, differential equations and transformations (such as Fourier's, Laplace's and Lorentz's). I think that was it, I might have missed something.

Those integrals were double and definite.

Ok yeah we had some of this stuff last year, some of it this year. Do you have mathematics also in 2nd year or only in first?

It's a bit weird situtation. When my college was transforming to Bologna system, all the departments had their own requests of what students should know on their second year (since that's the year where we actually choose directions), hence EM2 was created as a real-life Frankenstein. It's tougher than Analysis on Mathematics Faculty. That's why you had some of those things on the first, and others on the second year. Cause you're college is organised, while mine is synoym for disaster.

There is an EM3. But again, things get weird. Automatics and electronics have it on 3rd semester, 1 cycle. My department, Electroenergetics, have it on 1st semester on Master, Telecommunications have it on I believe 4th semester, 1st cycle, while IT doesn:t have it at all.

Guys, the date thing has been postponed. He's feeling under the weather so he figured it would be better to do that. So disappointed. Considering our distances and what I have going on with class this month, I don't know when we will be able to do it. Dang!

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

What are you growing?

I could never do the physical work needed for farming.
Well in my case the physical aspect is only a short period of time.

We're doing an orchard but using permaculture methods. We're growing fruit trees and Australian lime trees.

On top of that we have a polytunnel which we plan to grow exotics (Curry leaves, etc) and microgreens.

Then eventually once the house is done we'll have accommodation as well. Classes in cooking/baking.

We're currently going through a permaculture training course so we'll have certification. That will make it interesting for people to visit us as well.

We just planted our first 20 trees, nitrogen fixing. We're going to start planting the fruit trees soon.

We'll have over 180 trees on one plot. Then we'll look at the other plots.

Currently we're growing vegetables as well as a way to start preparing the soil.

The work isn't that hard and we have no tractor. So it's been interesting. We did hire someone to do the mounds for the trees. No way was I going to do that by hand!

Lots to do still before we have an orchard.

Sounds like fun.

Haven't done any of that complex maths in years.

You do need to remember the basics and more importantly remember what the maths is for.

It's easy to get caught up in the complexity of it all and lose sight of why you're doing it.

Oh, that sucks.

Flip through the Rolodex and pick the next one...

Rue the agromonist.

Returning to the land is always an interesting thing...

Same here. Funny thing is that I did the same stuff in first year of engineering as well. Only difference is that was now almost three decades ago, lol

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

I have been trying to get this arbor/trellis thing done for one of our passion fruit vines. It's just too hot though. Might be able to finish it up later in the evening today if it cools down into low 90s or high 80s. Fingers crossed.

I love the vision/plan that you two have going on, it sounds awesome.

Not quite an agromonist.

Permaculture is different. It's working with nature to cultivate rather than against it. It also has an ethical framework to it.

It's very interesting.

The concert was awesome! Glad that the friend that went with me convinced me to get an autograph, as this was a smaller venue. In the moment, I forgot to tell her how to spell my name but it's all good lol. I was also glad that my friend was able to go with me after all!

(Quite fun, going to the CPR course training. Tomorrow we'll have to muck around with bloody injuries!! Bring out the tomato 🍅 sauce!!)

Don't beat yourself up. You had a very severe illness, and needed to recover. I am sure that you will do better in college now that you are feeling better.
