WC 1M Post Challenge - You Ready?!

I respect what he has been able to do in building his brand. Outside of that, his overview style had never done it for me.

I agree with you about his brand. I'm not surprised to hear this as you seem to prefer the ones that dig deep.

He was always a glorified overviewer. He completely lost me from that Oneplus 3T situation where the phone was on massive backorder and he cozied up to Oneplus to be able to give away quite a few units.

Ugh this sounds frustrating but I wish you good luck with your decision.
The thing for me is that I'm now in a place where I want something that works and still has a few bells and whistles for my taste. It's why I like what LG has to offer. It is safe, affordable and functional, especially when you ig ore their gimmicks.

My main gripe with them is their lack of software support. The last LG I bought brand new was the G7+. If in my research I saw that it wasn't going to give me LTE, I'd have skipped it, honestly. The V35 experience kinda soured me from the idea of manually updating my phones or cross flashing to get rid of bloat, as LG decided to lock their bootloaders a few years ago.

If I don't want another LG as the daily driver, what are my choices? I love the in hand feel of the XZ3, and I liked the camera enough. No G cam port, but I'd use open camera for RAW footage. The 9 Pureview? Sure, but I'd have to put up with a bare bones Android One, and a finicky fingerprint scanner for a flat screen and a more interesting camera concept.

Just something to think through.

So I'm still waiting for an email to state my watch has been sent to the drop off point. Hopefully that's before lunch so I can pick it up.

I've been listening to a few different podcasts lately.

One on French history called Land of Desire, I like this one, it's in English.
A science one called Science VS, one of my favourites.
A Paris one called The Earful Tower (though I haven't listened lately to this one it got a touch annoying)
I still listen to The Infinite Monkey Cage when there's new episodes
I tried listening to the God Show but that's a bit annoying
I tried Star Talk but didn't work for me.

I also tried So my dad wrote a Porno. I couldn't listen to it for long. It was funny but...

I'm on the look out for new shows to listen to. I tried many of others as well. Some were OK.

Just get the XZ3 and be done with it. You know you want it. :P

The Nokia 9 is a good idea poorly executed. It needed either a better processor or a camera processor all it's own. Maybe next gen? I think the in screen fingerprint scanner was a bad choice but I can say the side one I have is just as bad.

I'm still curious why Canon hasn't got into phone cameras...

What I've come to understand.

The media does a p*ss poor job. That's the truth. Especially in the UK. I can only imagine it's crap in the USA as well.

No wonder the right wing is 'winning' though truth is they have it a lot easier...

Not spending the $600 for an XZ3 dual, which is the one I'd want. Just have to do some more thinking.

Understandable. I wouldn't spend that much on it either.

I see good deals here for the dual SIM used but no idea where to search in the USA for that.

So I still have no watch. I probably won't have it until tomorrow thanks to the wonderful courier company that is UPS.

I guess I learnt my lesson here. Just get is sent to a Amazon locker next time or just buy in store.

Have I mentioned that online shopping is a pain?

I'm just annoyed more than anything else. I'm not in a hurry it just irritates me that something so simple becomes a right pain.

Saw one on Swappa at a nice price recently but that listing is now gone. I've got a few options in my head I'm cycling through.

I feel your pain. Regular postal service at the last two addresses I've lived at have been convenient as listening to a Trump rally unpaid. So I use the PO Box for most things and now this Amazon locker that's in a pharmacy nearby the current address. I'm going to particular as to what I send there though as I live in an "up and coming neighborhood".

One of the issues has been that here in 'Murica, choice is king. So one can be siloed and stick with their own preferences. If we look at people who have been radicalized, it's now super easy to slide down those rabbit holes. Same with Fox News coverage and msnbc programming. In fact, the transitions between talking head shows on the last two networks are so similar and seamless it is easy to go from watching one program to consuming 4 hours of content. Youtube's algorithms are doing their own version of that with suggested/related videos.

So it's hard to "listen to the other side" with how entranced and entrenched the viewpoints are here. Sadly, really.

So I got the email the watch was ready for collection. So I went and got it. Thankfully my work is pretty easy going.

I'll take better pics later.

Sometimes one of the good things with LG having a presence here in the US is you wait them out until you l their models show up in the secondary market. If I am daring enough, I can find a G8 pretty cheap - under $400. The V40 for $100 less, the V35 for $150 less and the G7 for a song in some places ($200 less). It just makes being an early adopter of theirs a silly strategy if has choice.

Hard to believe the XZ3 and V40, two very good phones, are now a year old.

All social media algorithms are a problem. They constantly feed you what you consume so trying to step outside the bubble you put yourself into becomes increasingly difficult. You also have the USA mentality in general to deal with but that mentality is now spreading.

Steve Bannon and others of his ilk I'd like to see gone from this world sooner rather than later.

My main issue with the media (though there are some that are pretty good) is that they don't really challenge anything anyone says. This is especially true of the mainstream in the UK. The Brexit leaning people sprout all this nonsense, all of which can be easily rebuked, but they never ever get challenged. I just don't know why not. What's the point of interviewing someone or listening to someone if they're completely lying to your face and you don't say a thing. Is this balanced reporting? I just don't see the point of having these people constantly on TV and no one ever seems to tell them they're full of sh*t.

What kind of journalism is this?
