WC 1M Post Challenge - You Ready?!

MIA a quick rundown on my thoughts on the X1.

Fingerprint scanner still sucks. It's a poor replacement.

Screen is good but can be difficult in very bright sunlight.

Still think the camera interface needs improvement. No HDR in auto mode. No easy zoom/wide angle in manual. Silly things like that and that placement for the switch between lenses is crap still.

I'm generally happy with the photos I take but I haven't used the camera as much as I'd like to. Weather hasn't helped much with that.

Radios are good but it's hard to tell if any difficulties are from my phone or the network as there's a few black spots around.

I've had difficulty with WiFi as well but again, could be the router or something else.

Phone generally zips along nicely as you'd expect.

It still feels good in hand. I like the narrow format.

Overall I'm happy with it but would've preferred it without the bloat.

Plan to do a reinstall of the OS as I'm pretty sure there's something not 100% right at the moment. Just need the time.

That's about it.

Thanks for the update.

I do like the I hand feel of the Xperia 1 every time I go into Best Buy or B&H. Love the feel for the Xperia 5 as well, but the price is Weinstein/DJT level unattractive.

Battery is settling for the 9.0 update on the V35. It'll do the job to get me by for now...that's all I need from it.

I'm feeling like I'm struggling to catch up with what I watch. The readings for one of my classes is something else. I'm feeling like I'm still trying to get the groove of it and life. If I was only taking this class, it would be easier to be on top of it.

I hate when shows are 2 hours, as falling behind with one of those makes it harder for me to try to keep up with it. That might be the show to let go and watch when I can at some point.
I didn't skip this.

I understand the struggle really well. When I was doing my MSW, one of the things I wish I was better able to do was things on campus. Even when I had taken the year off from work, it was such a grind where getting into the on campus life was still hard. I was still able to do a few things so the experience wasn't so dry...it was brutal when working full time, juggling the full time program and seeing someone full time.

Most of the programs at US colleges are designed for students who don't work. Even in 2019, that's still a thing.

You'll find your balance. It does take some work, but you will find your balance if you fully commit.

At the same time, I also would like to try different social things. Some of the things that interest me on campus conflict with class or I would have to use time (from work) to go and I'll rather not. Luckily, I am finally doing something this week which I'm looking forward to. I also kind of wish I was closer to campus sometimes.
You'll need a system, of you don't have one. All this is designed to remind you of the importance of balancing different very involving responsibilities in your life.

You'll be fine.

Maybe I’m just a hopeless romantic or maybe I grew up in a different era, but I always say to simply follow your heart. They say the easiest way to make God smile is to tell him your plans.

You’re right, in the end things have a way of working out but I wonder if random chance plays a larger part than we care to admit. Running against the wind can be quite frustrating at times.

I believe it. I'm amazed how you did it, especially with work and seeing someone.
Thank you for the faith.

True. I feel like I had a solid system but the difference was that I didn't have as many readings as I have now. If I did, it was a combination of both classes, not just one.

I love to read but this class is challenging that. People ask me if I'm excited for graduation and I'm like, it's hard for me to see that far right now. I know that you get it, but I feel like my friends don't.
Having 5 to 7 readings of various lengths each week with discussions is a lot. By the way, we have a final exam on everything essentially so not reading it all can backfire on me.

I have acknowledged that I can't do everything but at least attending a meeting for an organization this week is a good start. If I like it, I'll try to do things with them sometimes. I'll probably focus my energies on doing more social stuff after I graduate.

Ha, that's true. I believe it will. Speaking of, I'm also home hunting, which adds another layer of things to think about. Currently, I'm not impressed with what I see for the value. If I am, it's too far. I thought that winter was supposed to be the best time? That's another rant. I'm not in a rush, I'm just ready (or working on being ready) if there's one that will work for me.

Don't know about over there but over here winter is the most difficult time to find a place in general for various reasons. I got lucky.

I can't remember if you're after a house or apartment.

Always keep in mind one thing with buying a place, the price is a starting point. If you find a place you like but 'needs some work,' use that to your advantage. Point out the issues. Make sure they know you see what needs to be done. Be sure to check things out.

Also be sure to look at a place as yours. (If you can't then obviously no good) Try to avoid seeing whatever is in the place when you're viewing it. You can change things.

As always though, be prepared to walk away if necessary. Don't get hung up on things. There will always be another place. If you have the right attitude it will be easier.

Whenever people asked me that, my answer was the same:

"I didn't have a damn choice. The alternative was unabashedly unacceptable."

As much as I liked working with the young people in the other department, management pigeonholed and type casted me a tad too much. Now that I put my money where my mouth is, I get calls to go back there whenever I see senior management.

If you know and value what you're worth, you'll do what you need to do to get to where you feel you should be.

I understand your pain quite well. My trade involves a TON of reading. I probably did about half the readings in school. I just focused on the essentials in my situation. Just continue to tweak the system and find your balance.

While I'm in agreement with this, it doesn't mean that you cannot have goals and a general outline as to what you're working towards. I see too much of the consequences of flying off the seat of the pants these days at work, when chronic medical problems only serve to exacerbate many of the holes we carry around with us in our lives.

Wednesday is here and the need to grind through has fully set in.

That high voltage job is looking appealing...

Thank you for this great advice! I'm looking for a townhouse. I was looking at condos originally as well, but decided against that. Here, there are 1 level condos and townhome condos. I want to buy this year for sure. I missed out on a nice deal way earlier this year by not having what I need to make an offer so I have fixed that issue now.

I will do my best not to get hung up on things. Speaking of price, I saw a home this weekend that seemed high for what it is. Guess what though? When the current owner bought this home 7 years ago, it was 100k less than what they are selling it for now! And yes, the amount they are selling it for now is the lower end of the estimated value. It's nuts to me. They did have to replace the roof and HVAC system in these last 2 years.

The winter comment is because it's easier to have issues exposed when living in a place with 4 seasons.

Oh I didn’t imply to not have any goals. Goals are an end, plans are the means to that end. I didn’t “plan” to have a heart attack at 46 much less a second one at 53. Those medical conditions you spoke of definitely have a bearing on your life and career plans. I try to tell myself it’s the Universe’s way of throwing up a fork in the road for me. Being a New Yorker you must be aware of a Yogi Berra gem - if you come to a fork in the road, take it.
