It's called science silly. Science is never certain about anything. It's a world of 'most likely' rather than absolutes.

Also, keep in mind that his area of expertise is theoretical astrophysics. On top of that his paper wasn't peer reviewed. As well the article I read made the idea sound completely stupid, which is nothing new due to the horrible science writing these days.
