I don't get the point, in my view that makes it even easier to switch platforms?

The point is that while you say Google are good where you are.... but when you want to switch platforms you will run into more trouble because Google services aren't everywhere unlike MSFT services you can find them in IOS,andriod ,wp,blackberry.

It's a Sony, my brain has never even considered thinking about the possibility of buying this phone. No kidding, there is just not a spark of interest, even though I am certain it's a great device.

And anyway, it would be too expensive for a simple replacement.

I remember MS saying they would support 7.8 for a bit longer or I could be mistaken but I'm sure someone said they would.
