I'm trying to download apps on my 1020 and it just says "pending" I've tried everything someone help please

Go to settings> battery saver> turn on the background process for Windows store. It should be fixed. If not, restart the phone.

I user double tap all the time, and Simple screen locker app's tile for locking the screen without reaching for the power button

There were four other hominid species existing at the same time as homo sapiens. So it's possible some legend could have carried down or one of the other species could have carried on a bit longer than first thought but I doubt they're still around.

Maybe they're an evolved semi-intelligent species in very low numbers purposefully avoiding humans because they know what we could do to them. That's my super crazy conspiracy theory.

1) Power off and on?
2) Tried a soft reset?

But why not just the the power button anyway instead of pressing the Windows button and then tapping the tile? That's adding a whole extra step to turning off the phone.

I don't have to press the Windows button? I have the tile pinned to my start screen. Eg. I close the WPC app. Now I'm in the start screen. To lock the phone, I tap the tile and the phone locks itself. That's it. No Windows button press required?

I haven't turned off my phone since like forever

my phone gets turned off once every 2 weeks to clear out the ram and temp files

The phone provides you with 4 zones. On these zones you can then tap a pattern with between 4 and 8 taps. (I have 5 taps). To wake and unlock the phone you can tap the pattern anywhere on the screen later.
